Article 79 of our Constitution is clear: the mandate to legislate belongs to Parliament alone. By issuing direct "instructions" to committees on how to shape the Sovereignty Bill, the Executive is overstepping. The principle of separation of powers is not a suggestion—it is the bedrock of our democracy. Let Parliament do its work without coercion or "guidance" from the top.

But balance of payments is S.6 economics Daniel. I see many people misdiagnosing our Parliament’s problem to be an academic one. Apart from Kabanda, everyone else in that Parliament has a degree, many have masters and about 10 have PhDs.

It’s Politics, Stupid. Advising politicians is like advising a woman in love. Logic doesn’t make sense to them. This is the economic perspective, which can be addressed by incorperating the ideas. How about the political & national security perspectives? You can protect the economy but lose the politics & security. Which one would you rather risk? Sovereignity & power? Politics & security?
