First, I want to thank @immaturegamer for hosting. I know the pressure was high, and I empathize with the challenge of facilitating such an important conversation. Unfortunately, after watching the discussion, I do not feel like much was truly answered. My biggest takeaway: Players want what players want. But if Epic is shaping UEFN purely around player behavior, and that behavior is leading to unsustainable conditions for developers, then does that not mean Epic is actively creating an environment that is bad for long-term game development? At what point does Epic take responsibility for balancing player desires with a sustainable ecosystem that actually allows creators to thrive? Right now, the people trying to build real games are being punished, while engagement farms continue to dominate Discovery. Game development is harder than TikTok, yet UEFN is actively pushing the industry into short-loop, disposable content rather than rewarding long-term, high-quality projects. What is Epic doing to shift this trend instead of just riding it? I also feel that too much of the conversation focused on preventing bad actors. But I am tired of preventative measures being prioritized over empowering the good actors. Why is Epic so focused on stopping the bad when it is the good creators who need better tools, better monetization, and better transparency? More than anything, I wanted to hear acknowledgment of the real problem, but honestly, I feel like the opposite happened. If we are expected to adapt to player behavior but at the same time must operate in a system that has hidden barriers like ‘Is this innovative enough to surface?’ then what Epic is really asking creators to do is throw all the risk and resources into a shot in the dark. That is not sustainable. That is not fair. And that is not how you build a creator-driven industry that lasts.
