To the guy who held the door for me and then followed me a few steps before stopping on the sidewalk and calling out "I'm not trying to be weird, I just, uh, think I'm parked next to you. You go ahead!" and then waited for me to drive off. Sir, may you only encounter green lights. May pizza never burn the roof of your mouth. May you awaken every day with a restored spirit. Got this patient info sheet from the after hours clinic where my son went for an ear issue (not Covid, thankfully) Apparently they are calling Covid a "common cold" now & normalizing kids being sick like 16 weeks of the year "without cause for concern" 😳

Today my dad told me he still didn’t understand why my mom divorced him 17 years ago. I didn’t think he was serious, but when I realized he was I told him why. She was tired of being a married single mother. He was a “stay at home dad” yet she would get home after her hour commute and have to make us dinner, clean the house, & do our bedtime routine. She would also get us ready for the day, even if it made her late to work, while he slept in. All while she paid the bills. This shocked him.

@2A_VET @gtconway3d Have you read the 2001 AUMF? It's explicitly limited to nations which "planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons." That doesn't include Iran.

@gtconway3d (2) specific statutory authoritization. The 2001 AUMF passed by congress has no sunset and authorizes every president in perpetuity to eliminate terrorism and state sponsors of terrorism. If congress wants to repeal it, they can.

Since many of my Democrat colleagues don’t seem to understand the War Powers Act, it’s very simple: The President must notify Congress within 48 hours of deploying troops or commencing an attack. The President must then withdraw troops within 60-90 days, unless Congress declares war. In this instance, Congress was notified in advance and briefed before the strike on Iran. A full classified briefing will be forthcoming. Now, Congress can pass a concurrent resolution ordering the troops be withdrawn at anytime, which is what Massie and Khanna are trying to do. But under Article II and as Commander in Chief, the President has the authority to act. The notion that this strike is illegal or that the President needed Congress’ authority is wrong. Furthermore, Biden and Obama conducted numerous strikes in numerous countries without Congress and none of the people screaming now, seemed to have any objections. For historical context, Congress has not declared war since WWII.

I just exercised my right as a Member of Congress to conduct an unannounced oversight visit of the ICE field facility in Baltimore. The staff I met with respected my right to visit, but what I saw was disgraceful. Kristi Noem has a budget of $75 billion she could use to ensure humane conditions, but we saw 60 men packed into a room shoulder-to-shoulder, 24-hours-a-day, with a single toilet in the room and no shower facilities. They sleep like sardines with aluminum foil blankets. Whether it’s for three days or seven days, nobody would want a member of their family warehoused there. The room set aside for dangerous criminals and violent offenders was empty. We’re demanding immediate answers and action.

My coworker used to take the long way home every night. Two extra bus stops, more walking, more money, more time. One day I asked her why she didn’t just take the shortcut alley behind our building. She laughed and said, “Oh, because a guy followed me there once and told me he could ‘do whatever he wanted’ and no one would hear me scream.” So now, every night, she calls a male friend and pretends she’s on the phone with her “boyfriend.” Sometimes she even laughs loudly and says things like, “Yeah, I’ll see you in five minutes, babe,” even when she’s completely alone. Not because she wants attention. Not because she’s dramatic. Because sounding “taken” and “protected” is safer than sounding like a woman by herself. Men cannot even begin to understand the calculations women make every day just to get home alive.
