Exciting news: today, @TransportDems advanced key provisions of my transportation bill to make it easier for communities to fund safer roadways. When we pass this legislation, we will save lives and honor the blessed memory of the Eighth District’s own Sarah Debbink Langenkamp, a remarkable public servant and beloved mother of two sons. A truck struck and killed Sarah while she was cycling on an unprotected bike lane in 2022. I’m grateful to Sarah’s husband Dan and her family for their years of patient and determined advocacy leading to this moment.

Trump’s theft of $1.8 billion from the taxpayers to create a personal and political slush fund for his once-and-future private militia violates many essential principles of our Constitution: Congress’ power over the purse, the judicary’s power to decide specific cases, the ban on the president pocketing federal money beyond his salary and the prohibition against taxpayer dollars being used to pay for insurrection. Judiciary Republicans should spare us the faux outrage about @splcenter. No counterfeit finger-pointing will undo President Trump's careful cultivating and coddling of the extreme Right for as long as he has been in politics. The real fraud in America is coming from the White House, not the SPLC: a $1.8 billion plunder of the taxpayers to pay off Trump’s private militia of white nationalist foot soldiers.

People in Congress and across the country grieve the passing of Barney Frank, who over three decades of service in Congress was an extraordinary champion for the civil rights and civil liberties of all people. May his memory be a blessing to his family and our entire nation.

As if a $1.8 billion slush fund weren't a severe enough violation of the rule of law, Trump's "settlement" with the IRS also includes a permanent get-out-of-jail-free card for any tax crimes committed by the president, his family and his companies.

BREAKING: 93 House Democrats have filed a motion to block Trump’s self-dealing settlement in his sham $10 billion IRS lawsuit, which would create a $1.7 billion slush fund for Jan. 6 rioters and political allies.

President Trump dropped a $10 billion lawsuit against his own government in exchange for a $1.776 billion slush fund to steer our tax dollars to election deniers and insurrectionists. If our Republican colleagues have any respect for the Constitution and the powers of Congress, they will join us and put a stop to this rank corruption.

House Republicans have abandoned all pretense of even trying to lower costs for the American people. With their poll numbers—and President Trump's—sinking like a stone, they’re working to pass culture-war resolutions and plutocratic legislation to penalize the poor instead of bringing down the high cost of gas, groceries, housing and health care. Democrats are working to make life affordable again for our people. MAGA Republicans want to placate Donald Trump and serve the billionaire class.

President Trump, his family and his closest advisors are violating our Constitution, plundering taxpayer dollars and exploiting our government for personal gain.
