I'm actually very surprised no one has brought the absolute bullshitery that is these two Ancients' attacks. The dodge window they have are utterly ridiculous, and the visuals are so delayed compared to that window too.

some of the worst examples of poor telegraphing are the lasers from both temple guardian and fear. unless you're blindly pressing ~1sec in, you *cannot* expect this nuclear bomb of an attack the first go around. a clip from a game i used to play, FURI, for comparison's sake

@Hecktrope Training wheels doesn't fix this. All it's for is for audibly displaying the guard window, not for telegraphing it. The tell isn't much faster with training wheels, especially on hm

possibly hot(ter) take i think training wheels should just be enabled by default if attack telegraphs are going to be as bad as they are, have a hard-mode card that disables it instead of the other way around

Possibly hot take? I think training wheels is one of the best cards and you shouldn't be ashamed to use it, half the enemies have a long ass windup and then snap to the part where they take away half your health, so having this SLIGHTLY reduces the bullshit factor. #Blocktales

Based on the response to this, I think I need to make a follow-up post explaining how to do shorts in a way that doesn't suck.
My point isn't to put people off making shorts entirely. It's to say that if your shorts aren't working you need to rethink your strategy.

VTubers, please be aware that shorts are a bit overrated right now. The big numbers look good, and previous generations of VTubers popped off from them. But (especially for smaller VTubers) they aren't what they once were. My main point is highlighted in red at the bottom.
