Seeing these guys bully an easy setup at Bethpage Black today has been illuminating. Narrow fairways and long rough have become so important to this course's ability to prevent low scoring in pro events. Very few ballparks are big enough anymore.

@detroitgolfer1 @AndyTFE Very hard to position a bunker at a distance which offers a genuine challenge to carry it for all players in Tour field and in all winds.

@detroitgolfer1 @AndyTFE I’m not sure that’s really true, at least not any more at the top level. What really seems to drive them mad is a CL bunker that they can’t carry and that offers a genuine penalty, which forces them to either lay up or challenge an uncomfortably narrow gap on either side.

Centerline bunkers are great when they cannot be flown over.

Beautiful crisp morning at @ScotscraigGC . Scotscraig is an interesting mix of a course - not quite sure if it is a links or heathland. Whatever it is, I’m a big fan, it’s been used for Open Qualifying previously and is in the process of getting taken over by Kingsbarns
