@murkman36 @JeffBarnes52 Wow, that is a shocking amount of attendance for wrestling despite how good the program is. Still, it looks like students get tix for free and there are only 6-7 home meets per year. I guess I see how you get in the ballpark of reported revs though.

@dollarsanddata The book that quote is from goes on to explain that Cornelius disinherited 9 of his 10 surviving children when he died, giving virtually his entire fortune to his oldest son William. William’s kids did blow it all, but most of the descendants were left with nothing but a name.

There will be no permanent underclass because there is no permanent elite. "When 120 of Cornelius Vanderbilt's descendants gathered at Vanderbilt University in 1973 for the first family reunion, there was not a millionaire among them." My latest: ofdollarsanddata.com/there-will-be-…

@ZaidJilani Absurd take on a heavily split ticket. In an RCV race, she finishes at least 3rd and probably 4th or 5th. She would have been 1st on the 26% of ballots she got and 5th or worse on the other 74%. Nobody outside of Kat voters cares who got contributions from AIPAC.

@mattyglesias The number of commenters who seem to think 72yo RFK can move that much weight purely due to hard work and grit, while ignoring that he’s obviously juiced to the gills on TRT and who knows what else, is as hilarious as it is sad.

@Austen How does one save $30k in taxes when the total state income tax for a single CA resident earning $250k/yr is less than $20k?

I wonder how many founders in California know that if you are making $250k/yr and move to Texas or Florida you pay $2500/mo less in taxes. Switching state of residence will save enough to cover rent.

@mattyglesias Considering like 90%+ of people eventually have kids, it’s hard to believe only a third of those value having kids.

@DubDublin @GaryWinslett There is no one named”Ms. Lashawn” on staff at Petaluma High School. This is probably years old, conveniently omits the book title, and I’ll eat my shoe if “Wall Street Apes” is an account actually based in the US. Good job falling for ragebait posted by some dude in Macedonia!

@JasonPetitte @GaryWinslett Just saw this. About 10 minutes after I saw this, just one of dozens of stories that will be posted this week about outrageous pro-perversion activities in public schools: x.com/WallStreetApes…
Wall Street Apes@WallStreetApes

Petaluma High School in California is making their students do “land acknowledgements” that they understand they are “living on stolen land” Parent confronts the school board and also shows her child’s English class is teaching them to “hide underage sex from their parents” and “gender confusion” “This teacher has also implemented other of her politicized ideology, which I just think does not belong in school at all, let alone in English class, having our children do land acknowledgments and letting them know that they're on stolen land. I've had my daughter come home extremely confused on this matter, on why they are being guilted into feeling like they have an issue for just living here and being who they are” “As a concerned parent about things that are happening at Petaluma High School. Recently, my child brought home material as in homework from Petaluma High School that was inappropriate and extremely suggestive. This came from her English class. I trust the school to educate and to not turn their English class into a sex and gender studies class. The book they're currently reading has themes of sex and hiding underage sex from your parents, gender confusion and body dysmorphia.” “This is not an isolated incident. Ms. LaShawn has assigned on more than one occasion work centered on sexuality, gender, and politicized themes that do not belong in an English class of minors. There's a clear pattern”

@DubDublin @GaryWinslett What can I tell you? I have not seen these “thousands of pro-pervert books” you think my kids are reading, but you seem pretty determined to go on pretending they exist so you can be mad about it.

I find it impossible to believe that your kids are not exposed to pro-pervert sexual messages in any "solid blue suburb". The libraries alone are repositories for thousands of new "children's books" that would have been banned as vile pornography before the turn of the century. This is no "fantasy" - I've seen it, my wife was a library assistant in our local public school. (And by the way, Haitians and other third world savages most certainly *have* eaten the geese, cats, and dogs they catch.)

How do you know either of those things to be false? My guess: The first you disbelieve because it paints an affinity group you like as maybe doing something negative (which must be untrue, because you like them). The second you disbelieve because the Orange Man said it was happening (which must be untrue, because you don’t like him)

@DubDublin @GaryWinslett I live in an affluent solid blue suburb and, even here, no one is trying to “trans” my kids at school. Thinking otherwise is a right-wing fantasy on par with “the Haitians are eating our pets”. I beg you to stop believing everything you read on X and touch grass once in a while.

What the hell do you even mean by "believe it"?? Close to half of Americans alive today (pretty much any of us with gray hair!) either lived it, or grew up in families that did - it's no myth, it's truth, which is why it *is* (and should be) "unkillable". When I was growing up, admittedly in solidly middle class suburbia, working Moms were almost vanishingly rare, everyone had two cars and a house, and our parents still managed to save for the future. As for the radical Politically Correct Progressive Communist indoctrination corps that has literally perverted our schools using our own tax dollars, that is self evident to anyone with eyes and a functioning brain.

@JasonPetitte @GaryWinslett Sounds infinitely preferable to a bunch of DEI perverts trying to trans them. Public schools are now abusing our children as a matter of course, plain and simple.

@Greenbackd Since financial statement audits weren’t a thing before the Acts of 33/34, how reliable are the denominators of any value factor before then? Is the 1830 cohort based on like 4 companies and a balance sheet written on a napkin?

Other viewers said Burns makes sure in first five minutes to say that white people are the invaders and they created a genocide. Nothing about the unifying Christianity that brought the first settlers and infused our Revolution, Declaration and Constitution. And did Burns put in a good word for Islamic contributions to early America?

@chucktodd Miami won on a FG in the final minute and the key play of the game was a fluke TD to end the first half that ND should have picked off. What on earth are you talking about with “a game that was always in Miami’s control”?!

Notre Dame’s playoff chances SHOULD be in bigger trouble than Miami’s. 1) they lost to Miami (a game that was always in Miami’s control with misleading final). 2) They just faced two teams who chose NOT to compete at 100% (Navy and Pitt). They shouldn’t BENEFIT from not having serious conference foes. 3) Good wins matter more than good losses. There really isn’t a strong case for ND. Discuss!

@Peacekeee You’re comparing the face value of the ‘93 ticket to the most expensive *listing* price on the secondary market. The other tickets in your own screenshot are 1/3 the price of the most expensive one you quoted and the ‘93 ticket certainly went for way more than $72 from a scalper.

1993 tickets to the 100 level for the World Series cost 67 dollars and accounting for inflation 152 dollars today. 2025 a tickets to the 200 level is 11,000 plus tax If this isn’t a reflection of the greed we allow to happen today. We need ticket price regulations
