Pitcher Mark Fidrych made his Major League debut with the Detroit Tigers. By year's end, "The Bird" had become a national sensation with his eccentric behavior and refreshing child-like personality. He was voted 1976 A.L. Rookie of the Year.

Doug Allan, David Attenboroughโs cameraman, has died in Nepal aged 74.
Doug, who recorded footage for BBC programmes such as Blue Planet, was described as a โtrue pioneer of wildlife film-makingโ.
He was a fabulous cameraman; after working as a research diver with the British Antarctic Survey, he became an expert in filming in some of the worldโs wildest and most inhospitable places. You will have seen his work in Blue Planet, Frozen Planet and many more iconic Natural History series. He was wonderful man - full of love for the natural world, laughter, fun.
He died doing what he loved. ๐ฅ
