@DougieCritchley I really hate to say it, but Roefs would be perfect for them. The opposite of Sanchez when it comes to composure and stability. Hopefully they're too blind to see it and we get at least another season out of him!

This summer is a tipping point for Chelsea…
Unless they drastically change their recruitment strategy, they will remain a club capable of competing for Champions League qualification rather than major honours.
It’s painfully obvious they need an elite goalkeeper and an experienced centre back…
Until they do, manager after manager will be the scapegoat.

So proud of #SAFC. Written off before a ball was kicked and yet haven't been in the relegation battle for a single minute of the season. On the pitch and off the pitch, in the dressing room and in the stands, just absolutely outstanding from everybody connected to the club.

Felt inevitable but still gutted to see Dan go. Would have loved to see him given more of a chance this season, but equally can't complain when you look at who kept him out. Will never forget how he stuck by the club at our lowest ebb. Hope he's celebrating another promotion soon

We can today confirm the departure of long-serving midfielder Dan Neil. Neil has joined Ipswich Town on loan until the end of the season, ending his 18-year association with Sunderland at the end of his contract in June. He lived the dream, and we all wish him well in the next chapter of his career ❤️

@JamesCopley_ Same. Bailey Wright too. Gooch's departure nearly broke me.

@JohnJKerr Thanks John. I felt similarly about the likes of Gooch, Embleton and Batth but that’s football

📝 | NEW: It feels like the end of the road is approaching for Dan Neil at Sunderland.
😢 It’s a sad one, but the logic behind his absence is hard to argue against. He deserves nothing but thanks for what he’s given this club. Full piece here.

@Capt_Fishpaste I half expect we'll sign players in positions we're already strong with an eye on them being a long term replacement down the line. Like we did with Mundle when we already had Clarke. So a GK, CB or CM wouldn't surprise me, given we'll likely be weighing up offers in the summer.

Good read. #SAFC will always play the long game. In a very nice cycle right now of summer leaps forward and January ticking over.
Unless a very good player can be found this month, I'd be happy to save the money for the summer seeing what they achieved with it last year.

🚨 Sunderland ideally want three additions this January - but "tough" trading conditions leave them with a dilemma. Chance of a generation, PSR conditions favourable and players open to join. To recruit or not to recruit? #safc Read 👇 inews.co.uk/sport/football…

100% agree. Always felt he had PL potential, all for giving him a chance to fulfil it here.

Dennis Cirkin. Very good tonight. Worth a contract imo. Still only 23. Loves the club. Can contribute. Has potential resale value. #SAFC

@LukeONien Trusted by every manager you've had, as supportive a teammate as you could find, a beacon of positivity to the fans and a role model to everybody who has joined after you. Part of the fabric of the club, a club legend and firmly one of our own. Congratulations Luke, you made it.

Last night, one of my dreams came true.
For years, I’ve dreamed about playing in the Premier League. Some people laughed at me. Some coaches I had when I was little said I’d never make it. Lots of people told me I wasn’t good enough and to give up.
But I’ve always held onto that dream of playing at the highest level. Deep down I believed that if I just kept working, kept learning, kept showing up every single day, then one day it might happen.
Last night, that dream that 4 year old me had….came true.
And if you’d told me I’d make my debut at left wing, up against my mate Mo Salah, I’d have laughed as well.
From non league in 2014, to being released by Watford in 2015… there were moments where it felt like this day might never come.
Sunderland, you’ve been my home for seven years. I never knew I could fall in love with a club, a city, and its people the way I have. You’ve given me space to grow, to fail, to learn, and to find out who I am as a player and a person. To play even a small part in rebuilding this beautiful club and helping it climb back to where it belongs is something I’ll always be proud of.
Making my Premier League debut… I’m incredibly grateful. Taking a moment afterwards to stand with my mum and dad and breathe it all in… that was special.
But that debut chapter is written now. The focus is on pushing on, improving, growing, and helping drive this club forward with this unbelievable group of players.
Seven years ago we were in League One. Fast forward to last night and we have a team giving everything, disappointed to only get one point against the Premier League champions. If that’s not a moment to stop, reflect, and feel proud, I don’t know what is.
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey; my family, my friends, the staff, the supporters, and my teammates.
It’s just the beginning ❤️
