I Risked My Life for a Country That Can’t Pay Me — Who Stole Our RCA?
I once saw a document in my camp stating that soldiers on operations are entitled to ₦5,000 per day as RCA. I was only getting ₦45,000 a month.
Who pocketed the rest? No soldier has ever asked that question.
I risked my life for a country that neither values it nor pays me fairly, all in the name of selfless service. Yet, the politicians who claim to lead us can’t even show the same commitment.
In Nigeria, the military has been turned into a tool of mental and civil slavery, where soldiers bear the burden of risks, stress, and injustice. True professionalism demands fairness, accountability, and genuine care for those on the frontlines.

Bandits have k!lled an Igala-Abuja based businessman, Muhammad Shuaibu, and his 19-year-old daughter, Fatima, despite the payment of N12 million ransom demanded.
Fatima, until her d3ath, was a student of the University of Abuja. The deceased businessman was a trader at the Dei-Dei Modern Market in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.
Shuaibu was abducted alongside his two daughters from their residence in Zhidu community under Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State on October 3, 2025, after armed men invaded their home.
A family member, who spoke to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity, said the kidnappers initially took the businessman and his daughters into the bush after rounding up members of the household.
The source disclosed that the abductors later demanded ransom in installments, which the family paid in three tranches N6 million, N4 million, and a final N2 million bringing the total to N12 million.
According to him, the kidnappers had earlier k!lled Fatima about three months ago, accusing her of being “stubborn,” even as negotiations for ransom were ongoing.
The family member explained that after the last payment of N2 million, the kidnappers instructed the bearer of the ransom to return, claiming that the businessman had d!ed in captivity after falling seriously sick.
The source also disclosed that the family had to sell the deceased’s shop at Dei-Dei Modern Market, his private car, and a sachet water production machine to raise funds for the ransom.
“The bandits even asked us to sell his house, but there was no buyer,” he added.

When i said im very skeptical bout taking my dog to some place that isn’t under my care
This is my utmost fear
Now this is a millionaires dog but left under the care of a security guy who lives with his wife and two kids
Millionaire is abroad but sends money monthly for his dog. Imagine a dog owner absent and still sends money for the upkeep. That means he loves his dog.
One thing led to the other, Jomos vet was called to go do one or two for the poor dog and he asked me to join him cause i was at the clinic . We drove down there and this security guy was doing everything possible to lie and cover up. He told this man his phone is button phone and can’t access camera
He also started begging i and the vet guy to do same and cover up for him. That we should only talk bout the bruises. The vet clearly told the man that the dog looked underfed .
But i did otherwise. The owner was speaking with the vet through the guys phone and i saw his name saved as Boss Emeka. I started speaking Igbo on the background lamenting all sorts of things bout how the dog looks in Igbo language. This security guy isn’t Igbo and he was making signs for me to stop speaking Igbo
Long story cut short, he has being told to pack before night.
Imagine i didn’t go with them?
And i don’t feel sorry one bit. Let him go.. both his wife and kids
These are the pictures of the dog. A pure breed Caucasian looking like this with bruises all over. Starved and maybe beaten everyday 😭😭😭

Ask Damilola why he runs, and he won’t just talk about finish times or medals. He’ll tell you about the people, the shared discipline, and the unspoken drive to show up, chasing something bigger than yourself.
That’s what the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon gave him first: a community. Over time, it shaped something deeper, a lesson in preparation that transformed how he trains, with intention and respect for the distance.
Now, that journey comes full circle, shaped by discipline, consistency, and the decision to keep showing up long after the lesson was learned. Because when the moment calls, you don’t just answer, you prepare.
What keeps you going?
