Red-breasted Goose - field sketches & notes comparing young and adult plumages. Thrilled to chance upon this juvenile on Wells Saltmarsh. Not one for lists but definitely a high point for me as it completed the full set of British geese that I've found in my local area.

Exhibition opening day! Red-breasted Goose with Brent Geese - very topical in North Norfolk at present. Both images available as limited edition prints and a couple of Red-breasted Goose originals on show too. (see pinned tweet for details)

After @NorfolkCoastNT’s waffling and nebulous statement this morning it is important to ensure they replace the bridge they removed from Stiffkey. Please consider signing this petition chng.it/FpzxmfwzQR

Pink-footed Geese arriving to feed on sugar beet tops at dawn, painted on a morning of strong winds with showers - rain drops caught in the watercolour washes

@pseudoliam @Vaasetter @DarbyBug I haven't seen the Cley flock this winter and I'm not much of a Twitter birder, but I would suggest that the bird in question is more likely a DBBxPBB hybrid. Attached pictures of one from the Cley flock in previous years, might even be the same bird - thoughts?

Adrenalin to the max as a group of Dark-bellied Brents, maybe 200, dropped into the winter wheat at the bottom of the lane for the first time in weeks this afternoon. Panicked 1st scan, no Red-breasted Goose, more relaxed 2nd scan, a subtle Pale-bellied Brant emerged. Nice 😁

Pinkfeet arriving to feed, mid morning, set against a watery sun - often a sign that rain is on its way. I like the challenge of trying make sense of these mass arrivals + quickly capturing the sky before it changes. Large outdoor painting being scanned ready for framing

@MilesPadgett @CWQiu3 It is worth pointing out here that Miles actually did the first experiment (that I know of) looking for chirally sensitive light-matter interactions with optical vortices in 1993! See page 7 of iopscience.iop.org/article/10.108… - a nice bit of, potentially forgotten, history.

@UEA_Chemistry @BochmannGroup It is generally believed to be territorial behaviour (also inquisitive perhaps?), and will be most evident this time of year for obvious reasons. They will also frequent windows to glean insects and spiders.

This little chap has been pecking at our window for days, as if trying to get in. Don't think he's fighting his reflection, just little pecks. Any explanation?

Special moment during the recent snow - in a small area of woodland fourteen Woodcock were visible feeding. As I sketched them Blackbirds started alarming then a dog Fox wandered through the scene scent marking at regular intervals - a real high point of my time watching nature

A bit of vagueness - shapes and patterns in thick freezing fog. Pretty much sums up yesterday's fieldwork

Pinkfeet in low morning sun, 26th Nov. Frosty start with warm sun burning off mist - contrast to today's grey & drizzle a day for paperwork.

Mass arrival of Pink-footed Geese from last week. Painted in early morning as light rain started to clear - tiny spots of fine rain have peppered the background washes but otherwise the painted survived the weather conditions
