With the recent descent into despair, one might need to abandon the metaphorical ship and find respite. I may not be using Twitter going forwards, so find me @keatesresearch.bsky.social

Very proud to have been involved in this new paper, led by @AmandaT_ASC, highlighting how few mental health intervention studies measure quality of life as an outcome for autistic people, or involve autistic people in the design/delivery of the study 1/2

I wish to extend a huge thanks to PARC and specifically @Allison66746425 and @milton_damian. Both @Farradeh5 and I thoroughly enjoyed presenting at the workshop online session premiere... Premiere makes it sound fancier, so I've used that.

At the online Salvesen Annual Lecture 2024 (@SMRCResearch) listening to @BorgSkoglund, a medical expert, so it's framed that way. The topic is ADHD and AuDHD girls and women. So far, we have heard that AuDHD makes you "more impaired"...

@milton_damian Not really. They were swinging between this medicalised narrative and noting the social consequences (my phrasing, they just mentioned coping, masking, etc.).

Aging women were commented on with sustaining experiences as per before, but with some exacerbation from age related factors, e.g., loneliness.

Regarding young ND women (adolescents), the expression of "impairments of emotional instability" and related their experience of risk taking such as substance abuse or sexual risks. As for adults, apparently more "risk pregnancies".
