Autistic volunteers (with a diagnosis), aged 18+, needed to take part in ADOS training for diagnostic practitioners! Waiting times for diagnosis are unacceptably long. The ADOS is not perfect, but it is a powerful diagnostic tool.

Our training includes a chance for every trainee (normally very experienced clinicians) to practise administering part of an ADOS with an autistic volunteer. Courses take place in Edinburgh or online. Volunteers are reimbursed £50 for their time & we cover local travel costs too

Neurodiversity-affirming & neurodivergent-informed report writing can only be built on a solid foundation of neurodiversity -affirming & neurodivergent-informed practice across all our work; assessment & therapy. This requires deep work, thinking & reflection. @RCSLTLearn

New paper written by multiple members of our research centre, explaining what neurodiversity is, for a young reader. “Knowing about neurodiversity can help us understand why everyone processes and experiences things differently—and there is no “right” way!”
Dr Alyssa M. Alcorn@a_m_alcorn0131

Proud to have been a part of this paper explaining neurodiversity for younger readers Am accessible explainer that might help some adults too! “When we all understand what neurodiversity is, it is easier for everyone to be themselves, no matter how they think, feel and learn.”
