@paul_tremelling It's a sombre thought that we all witnessed at some point. I read about the loss of my friend in the Sun newspaper many weeks after the loss of HILTON 22. We knew something in an Ops Area had happened and lives were lost when flags were half mast - I never knew it was a friend!

Taken in 2008 in Khandahar. I called this picture 'Half Mast Again'. A simple ceremony but one that we all knew meant that a family and loved ones many miles away were being given the dreadful news.

@paul_tremelling I had the pleasure to serve on 1(F) Sqn whilst Kris was there - top guy, and would always, ALWAYS, stop to chat after handing his flying kit back in. Same could be said during Afghan our tours.... A sad and tragic loss of one of Britains unsung heroes of the skies....

Kris was my best friend. I can tell you exactly where we were for so many adventures & misdemeanours. I can tell you exactly where I was the last time I decided not to phone but to wait until later…exactly where I heard the news. ‘My door is open’ does not work - reach out.

First solo today in Grob Tutor…2014 since I was last flying by myself! Great experience and more tomorrow. (Thanks to Keith Newsome for the image and to 115 Sqn / @Commandant6FTS for the opportunity).

@HEMS_Driver @YorkshireAirAmb And having a helmet that fits, especially with NVG’s on, is key to removing the distractions and discomfort. KSE have a wealth of experience on fitting for NVG use, after all, it is what we did for the UK military for many, many, years!!

Bit of NVG training tonight for one of @YorkshireAirAmb TCMs. Today is the first lesson, with some ground school before hand. Flying at night is one of the many reasons I came to YAA. So, it's great bringing on new members of the team 😃👍
