One of my favorite 2 steps in critical discourse is the hand wringing about the “lack of movie stars” as soon as we get a “movie star performance” then begins the concern trolling of “isn’t this actor a little too good looking to be a normie? Whatever happened to immersion?”

CBS obtained video of the DHS killing of an unarmed man in Texas that DHS concealed for nearly a year, which clearly contradicts claims that he violently rammed anyone. He is shot with his brake lights on, car not moving or barely moving. Another DHS crime.

Very funny that the one of variety’s anonymous Oscar ballots called One Battle After Another the worst movie for black people since Green Book and still voted for it in Best Adapted Screenplay with no follow up questions. Sucks to be Hamnet I guess.

Interesting thing about modern film critics is they have an endless appetite for “ambiguity” in art films but as soon as they see a genre film they will become the biggest fucking rules lawyers imaginable.

Interesting fact, some movies that aren’t ARGO fall also exactly on the ARGO line and those years are basically draws.

I’m developing a new concept in thinking about the Oscars that I’m calling THE ARGO LINE. Is the movie that won best picture that year better than the Motion Picture ARGO? Then it’s a good winner. Is it worse than ARGO? Then buddy you better believe it was a bad choice.

@firstshowing I don’t think it’s even a question of payment. It’s probably more like “we won’t invite you to red carpets or let our actors do your cute interviews anymore”

The sad part is that you KNOW the studio paid them to do this. That's 100% what is going on here. I highly doubt Letterboxd just did this on their own according because of the "embargo". Plus the movie opens internationally today and ALL ratings are being censored still. Ugh.
