People are starting to push the red button. Not my favorite way to characterize it, but the least disruptive scenario is the one where everyone just runs BIP-110/pushes red. All the concerning scenarios are (unsurprisingly) where there are two sets of consensus rules.

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

Game theory in action. As we get closer to activation more Bitcoiners will come to understand the asymmetric bet at play here. Signaling #BIP110 not only reorients #Bitcoin to its monetary purpose and eliminates less than 1% of the block reward. Refusal to signal risks losing an entire block. Miners who are economically motivated will signal BIP110. Miners who see how spam is harming Bitcoin will signal BIP110. Only those who are ideologically motivated to perpetuate spam will refuse. A very small minority of the network. BIP110 is the obvious choice to make Bitcoin better money.

The comments (and quotes) sayin that nothing of value has been built with Taproot. Looks inside: > Ark > Statechains > BitVM > Miniscript > All the advancements to make Cashu non-custodial > SuperScalar > Rollups > DLCs Those just from the top of my head.

This is Pieter Wiulle. Bitcoin Core contributor responsible for the latest Core bug: bitcoincore.org/en/2026/05/05/…. He has been the source of many many critical bugs in recent years. And he's the reason TapRoot exists and the reason JPEGs and inscriptions are all over BTC's chain. Here he is in an interview -- the man is clearly dead inside. He knows he sold out. It killed him.

do you understand what just happened to your computer.. Google Chrome secretly downloaded a 4GB AI model onto your device. Without asking.. Without telling you.. It's called weights.bin. It lives deep in your system folders. It powers Gemini Nano - Google's on-device AI. And if you delete it? Chrome re-downloads it automatically. Like nothing happened. Just Google deciding your hard drive is their storage unit. At 1 billion Chrome users - that's 4 BILLION gigabytes of data pushed silently across the internet. The carbon footprint alone equals tens of thousands of cars running for a year. Check your disk right now: 📁 %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\OptGuideOnDeviceModel To stop it: chrome://flags → disable Optimization Guide On Device Model → restart Chrome → delete the folder. Reshare so people know what's sitting on their computers.
Pirat_Nation 🔴@Pirat_Nation

Google Chrome is quietly downloading a roughly 4 GB AI model to many users’ computers without clear upfront consent. The file, called weights.bin, is part of Google’s Gemini Nano on-device language model and lands in the browser’s user data folder under OptGuideOnDeviceModel. It powers built-in AI tools such as “Help me write,” smarter tab suggestions, on-device scam detection, and page summarization. The download triggers automatically for devices meeting minimum hardware requirements, and Chrome often replaces the files if deleted. While the model processes data locally, installation happens in the background with minimal notification. The scale is noteworthy. Hundreds of millions or billions of installations add up to thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions globally from data transfer, even though each is a one-time event. To prevent or remove it, go to chrome://flags, disable the entries for the optimization guide on-device model and Prompt API, restart the browser, and manually delete the folder.

Since 2014, we chose the hard path: NO systemd. Good reasons for this keep coming. Now it harvests personal data like birthdates, unrelated to computing and ripe for abuse. This is not a feature. It is a boundary. We do not ship surveillance. github.com/systemd/system…

BIP-110 may be flawed in many respects, but it’s directionally right. There is no perfect solution. This one ships and will evolve. Bitcoin means different things to different people — I want it optimized for money, not jpegs. Therefore: bip110.org

Saylor is promoting Ethereum. Saylor is promoting the Runes protocol on the Bitcoin network. Saylor is promoting issuance of stablecoins on the Bitcoin network. Saylor is promoting issuance of staking tokens on the Bitcoin network. Saylor is promoting the use of the Bitcoin network to support tokenized synthetic bitcoin tokens on L2s. Saylor is telling folks to exchange their BTC for stablecoins, in part so they can earn yield on those stablecoins. That yield is provided by STRC, which is purchased by entities within the stablecoin ecosystem described above. Saylor/Strategy then takes the proceeds from those entities buying STRC and buys a boatload of BTC themselves. Saylor use to tell folks to buy and hold BTC, there is no second best. Saylor now tells folks to buy a security or a stablecoin instead. Here's what's involved in the stablecoin money flow. Two different stablecoins, one riding on Ethereum, one riding on Bitcoin. Two different staking tokens, one on Ethereum, one on Bitcoin. One synthetic bitcoin token riding on an L2, which uses the Bitcoin network. One security, and last, but not least, some actual bitcoin. What could possibly go wrong? Here's the kicker, in that whole process, the only entity not buying and holding BTC is the individual customer. It's an unbelievably complex thing. I'm almost hesitant to even post this out of fear I'm going to look like an ass because there's no way this monstrosity could exist, and I'm just making shit up. Who knows maybe I've misunderstood it all, but I don't think so. Taproot and OP_RETURN are the two key aspects of the Bitcoin protocol enabling the Bitcoin network to be used for all this non-bitcoin stuff. All except Strategy are VC-backed. Here are all the entities, protocols, outputs and tokens involved for the privilege of exchanging your BTC for a yield bearing stablecoin: Hermetica (USDh, sUSDh) enabled by Runes/OP_RETURN on Bitcoin. Saturn (USDat, sUSDat) on Ethereum. Stacks (sBTC) on bitcoin L2, enabled by Taproot on Bitcoin. Strategy (STRC, MSTR) - securities.. Oh and some BTC, mostly flowing away from the individual into STRC. Unbelievable. No way this will turn into another FTX, BlockFi, Celsius, Voyager, Three Arrows Capital, etc.. No way. This time is different. How do you sleep at night Saylor?

I’ve had my @eBay_UK account since 2012, 100% positive feedback. Always an honest buyer and seller for all sorts of things over the years. Put a PC component up for sale the other day and a guy offers me my minimum within 3hrs, I agree to sell it and post it the same day as he seemed desperate. I was crystal clear in my description that it was missing one of the original USB-C to USB-A cables as I lost it when I moved house and that a normal cable does the exact same job. Guy messages me demanding I either partially refund him for the ‘Missing’ cable or ‘I can have it back’ once delivered. I suggest he takes it up with eBay as he clearly didn’t read the advert. As you can see below he’s playing the buyer protection system and trying to extort money from me basically. He then puts in a return request for a reason that is completely null and void. I ring eBay and they suggest I accept the return request despite me not being in the wrong, I tell them I will not pander to people like that who are playing the system and would sooner not use their platform anymore. Now my account is under review and all payouts have been put on hold for at least 5 working days 😡 So fuck you @eBay_UK and your ridiculous system that always sides with the buyer regardless of what they say or how blatantly they abuse the system.

@jyn_urso Basically Core is proving to be the most centralized aspect of Bitcoin, even more than mining. There is a small group that controls Core via the power of the purse, and installs and funds its puppets. Devs who do not toe the party line are sidelined.
