So who is running Iran now? Did we actually replace the regime or just cut off the old head so one of his underlings can take over? Genuine question. The rhetoric is postured as if we've handed the country to the people on a silver platter, but I suspect that is BS. Anyone?

No you don’t get it when Trump says “a whole civilization will die tonight” he is being hyperbolic and posturing unlike when Iran says “death to America” which is actually a very serious threat and should definitely serve as the basis for an invasion

@LabyrinthMarket @DPadenAkaterry @Avesvery I think you just brought in a concept to distract from the fact that evolution is pretty much proven to happen and we can manipulate it, even outside of lab settings.

Well thats my original point then? "Science hasn't explained how matter "becomes" a feeling yet, but equally the creationist can't prove that it’s impossible for science to eventually figure it out. Since you can't "disprove" a hidden supernatural source, science leaves it out of the equation. Whilst creationists draw on logical necessity (culture, theology, history) to build their worldview." Your view is as arguable as a creationist whichever way you square it.

@LabyrinthMarket @DPadenAkaterry @Avesvery As in, we don't know why neural networks work the way they do, which includes brains? It's still under research, a god isn't likely to be needed to finally explain it.

That's the conventional scientific view yes. But the deadlock lies in the subtle nuance between science knowing why your body for example flinches (nerves) and chermcials but cannot explain why those chemicals "feel" the way they do. Like sadness, joy love ect. The creationist fills that bridge of unknown with soul/consciousness.

The creationist will more often than not use contingency to argue that consciousness cannot come from nothing. Science cannot prove that a non-physical source cannot exist. On the other polar, the evolutionist will argue that consciousness is constrained by the laws of physics; that complexity in matter leads to consciousness. Science hasn't explained how matter "becomes" a feeling yet, but equally the creationist can't prove that it’s impossible for science to eventually figure it out. Since you can't "disprove" a hidden supernatural source, science leaves it out of the equation. Whilst creationists draw on logical necessity (culture, theology, history) to build their worldview. Ultimately there is always an inevitable deadlock. Hence this is the core of the debate.

@DPadenAkaterry @Avesvery Except they can exist due to evolution. You can't really prove they emerged out of nowhere or that species did not evolve. You can try to make the claim DNA doesn't change through time or that it doesn't exist, but you'd sound silly to everyone.

Does threatening to send an entire nation back to the Stone Age mean anything other than a massive war crime? This was the question I asked my Finnish counterpart, who is a jurist. History is full of those who paid a heavy price for their silence in the face of criminals.
