So yours was the only masked face at the office and in the store on the subway and in the waiting room at least now you know the answer to your teacher’s question of if you would be willing to do the right thing even if you were the only one doing it.

1/ This is a superb - if terrifying - article on the possibility that a long-term sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection may be the development of Parkinson's Disease. As I've said before, I have long suspected this: I remember vividly the moment in 2020... salon.com/2023/04/24/lon…

@safe_breathe @AranetIoT We have a less expensive version from a different brand, but the results seem fairly inconsistent and the battery life is poor. Would love this!

Many disabled people don’t know how much more we can take of the pandemic. The constant staying home, the people close to us thinking we’re crazy, the fear of getting any sort of medical care or leaving the house. Please be easy on us. We’re on year four. We’re doing our best.

I’m sorry COVID’s not over. I’m trying my best to make it over. Until such time as it is over (ie. We can prevent long COVID, we control transmission, it isn’t a leading cause of death and disabling millions of people), I can’t act like it’s over. Believe me, I’ve tried.

One of the hardest things about this pandemic is how loved ones will tell you how much they love and care about you but aren’t willing to do what it takes to keep you safe. It’s like hearing them say, “I love you, but not enough.”

@depalm So proud of the way these kids are confident, able to set clear boundaries and voice their needs. They are setting such an amazing example.

This long-form piece on Canada's MAiD system is heavy and angering, and very important. TW: suicide, MAiD, medical ableism, systemic violence. "Just a few years ago they would [hear]: Your life has value. In Canada today they hear something else: Your death will be beautiful."
Alexander Raikin@AlexanderRaikin

What's going on with Canada's MAiD program? Let's ask the physicians in charge. This piece took a long time to report. I interviewed 50+ people. I went over two years of training seminars. And it turns out, MAiD in Canada is seriously flawed thenewatlantis.com/publications/n…

Dr. Peterson laments the necessity to cancel or delay so many needed pediatric surgeries. "We're supposed to protect these kids, and we can't do it". But together, we can! Wear a mask, and help stop the spread of illness so these kids can get the surgeries they need. Please.

"My colleagues are making decisions between the child with a brain tumor or the child that is going to lose her bladder function:" The Chief of Pediatric Surgery at McMaster is worried about the heartbreaking impact of cancelled surgeries. @Shaunacitynews toronto.citynews.ca/2022/12/14/can…
