Did you know... that the "Two-Day" Weekend is New? For a long time, people only had Sundays off. The idea of having Saturday and Sunday off didn't become common until the 1930s. Before that, if you asked a teacher for a "weekend," they might have asked, "What's a weekend?"

@MichaelRosenYes Children who read for pleasure are not just better at English- they do better across the curriculum. If we want to close attainment gaps later, building daily, enjoyable reading habits in the foundation years is one of the most evidence-backed places to start.

So all the millions who've sat reading 'Dear Zoo' and 'The Gruffalo' with their pre-readers don't realise that their pre-schoolers should really be waiting till they're taught how to read before they 'appreciate' the books. Lols.

To end our Careers Week in Year 2, we had a visit from Nabeel, who talked to us about his role as an engineer. We enjoyed learning about how wind turbines are built and how the cables are connected beneath the sea. We couldn’t believe how huge the blades are compared to a person!
