It was subsumed in gentile times because the Jews refused to follow God, except for the majority of Jews and Israelites who went with the Church or with Islam. Today I want to tell you about the Martyr of Mosul, the kidnapped Archbishop killed after forbidding his church to pay a ransom. On February 29, 2008, Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho finished leading Stations of the Cross in Mosul. As he was leaving mass, he was held up at gunpoint. Forced into the trunk of a car, Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho found his phone in the dark. He called his priests. His message was short: "Do not pay a ransom for me. The money will be used for killing." The terrorists asked for $3 million, the release of Arab foreign fighters & the payment of jizya. The Church refused every demand. His body was found on March 13, 2008, in a shallow grave on the outskirts of Mosul. He was the highest-ranking Chaldean Catholic clergyman killed during the Iraq War. Pope Benedict called it "an inhuman act of violence." In less than six years after his killing, ISIS would blaze through & destroy Mosul, once a heartland for Assyrian Christianity. In his will, Rahho asked Iraqi Christians to build ties with Muslims and Yazidis.

Every Middle Eastern Christian living in the diaspora must use their talents to build momentum for their people. If you are an Assyrian who descends from the people who invented writing, you can use the Internet to accomplish big things. You owe it to your ancestors.
