It's clear now that X's priorities are messed up and the people in charge are making bad decisions. There are other options for news and current events. Maybe I'll return here someday if X cleans up its act.

Elon, Nikita is destroying X. He’s gutting reposts, quote posts, and discovery, the core mechanics that made this platform powerful. X is turning into a worse YouTube clone while even Threads is gaining ground. He needs to go. @elonmusk

In a serious country, an effort would already be underway to use the tools provided in the US Constitution to remove Trump from office.

So, a couple of the boys have been texting me: “Why the hell would Trump drop the Hormuz blockade bomb on a Sunday? It’ll send oil screaming past $120, maybe $130 if the algos really panic. Makes zero sense if you actually want cheaper barrels.” But it makes perfect sense. Beautiful, even. See, Tokyo and Hong Kong are already humming by the time the East Coast is still nursing its coffee. Those futures pits—Dow, S&P, the whole equity complex, plus Brent and WTI on the screens—never really sleep. You’ve got fourteen, fifteen hours of runway before the New York bell. Plenty of time for the right hands to lean in: long the indices in Hong Kong, short the crude in Tokyo, riding the fear wave as the blockade tweet lights up every terminal from Singapore to Sydney. Then, right on cue, before the U.S. opens, comes the pivot. Something about “there’s regime change in Tehran,” “we can do business,” “Talks were Good,” the usual art-of-the-deal baloney. Markets whip around like they’ve been Tasered. Oil gives back the spike, stocks rip higher. The boys in Asia unwind clean, pocket the spread. A few hundred million, maybe more, conjured out of thin air on the back of one perfectly timed Sunday morning post. Not bad for a morning’s work. The Street’s been running these kinds of games for decades: information, timing, leverage. Just never quite so… presidential!!

BREAKING: I think I figured out the algorithm. You must be original, but not artificial. Active, but not too active. Engaging, but not excessive. Interact, but don't reply too much. Use emojis, but only sparingly. Don't give a one-word response. Don't make your response too long. A brief response isn't ideal either. Spark conversations, but don't post too many comments. Don't post at weird times. Don't post rapidly. Post videos, but don't post videos. Share posts, but only certain ones. Ask questions. Don't keep asking things. Don't interact with low-quality accounts. Don't ignore small accounts. Only interact with blue-checked accounts. Don't comment on too many (premium) blue-checked accounts. It's really that simple.

@lifeofajaybird @KatiePavlich My point is the "winner" of a war dictates the terms of surrender and the post-war political order. These terms are not negotiable.

BREAKING: VP Vance announces Iran has failed to meet expectations after 21 hours of negotiations in Pakistan, especially regarding their nuclear program. The U.S. delegation will leave with no deal. “We just could not get to a situation where the Iranians would accept our terms…unfortunately we were unable to make any headway.” Iran didn’t negotiate in good faith. Vance says a final and best offer has been made and it’s up to the Iranian regime to accept, or not.

Lawmakers at all levels of government take perverse pleasure these days at doing the exact opposite of what the majority of their constituents want. The system is broken.

My husband and I took our kids to get ice cream today and for two smalls and three kiddie sizes it was $32. THIRTY TWO DOLLARS, practically $6.5 per person when three were kids and no one got toppings other than jimmies. Even whimsy is expensive now

It’s honestly crazy how expensive everything is nowadays. There’s no reason why 2 small sandwiches from @panerabread should cost $30, a family of 5 at @ChickfilA costing $70, or ice cream for the same size of family $32. Yes, I know: “Eat at home, it’s healthier and cheaper.” Okay, let’s say we eat at home exclusively. Get a @Costco membership. You’re still looking at grocery bills ranging from $200 - $500/week, depending on how much meat you eat. Now let’s talk about rent. Let’s say you make $60k a year. Once upon a time, that was a pretty good salary! After taxes, health insurance, Social Security deductions, you’re bringing home $3800/month. For a 3/2 house, you’re looking at $2500 in monthly rent, depending on where you live. That leaves you with $1300 a month to pay for the following: that $250 Costco trip, utilities ($350-400/month), gas ($250/month) car payments, car insurance ($220/month) maybe student loans, phone bill ($120/month), etc. I’ll let the economists fight each other about what caused inflation, high rent, home prices, etc. All I know is that for the ‘Average Joe’, we don’t care about fighting Iran or whatever the current priorities are these days. Most Americans, as @MattWalshBlog pointed out the other day, are struggling. We just want to be able to afford a home and live comfortably, able to save for our children’s future. Meanwhile, the AI revolution is bringing in people to San Francisco who are paying OVER the already-inflated asking price. It’s clear that the rich are getting richer, but the middle class is rapidly becoming poorer. Wages are not catching up to costs of living. That $32 ice cream trip for mom, dad, and 3 kiddos should radicalize you. An American family should be able to go out for a treat every now and then, and not get slammed by these nonsense prices. I don’t have all the answers, but I do know this: any political party who demonstrated the ability to make things affordable again would win in a landslide.

Got a note from one of my sons: “Only in Montana can you leave your keys dangling all day from the roofbox keyhole with your car parked in the aisle so everyone can see and not have your car stolen.” Montana is still a high-trust society. The Last Best Place.

🚨MAJOR BREAKING: The Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee just formally requested a cognitive exam for Donald Trump. In writing. To the White House physician. The letter cites Truth Social posts, statements at the Easter Egg Roll, and this: “Experts have repeatedly warned that the President has been exhibiting signs consistent with dementia and cognitive decline.”

I've never seen anything as pointless as this attempted and then aborted Iran operation - from any ideological perspective. It makes zero sense and incurred all the liabilities with zero benefits. Will discuss more today. But the key point is that it's emblematic of EVERY issue this man touches. We are so broken with so many false choices and a lack of leadership.
