Tim Moses Named Inaugural Athletic Director for Waterloo United High School The Waterloo Community School District is proud to announce that Tim Moses has been appointed as the first-ever Athletic Director for the newly formed Waterloo United High School, effective for the 2026-2027 school year. ㅤ Moses, a veteran educator and athletic administrator with over three decades of dedicated service to Waterloo schools, will transition into this historic role from his current position as Athletic Director at East High School. His deep academic roots in the community began at Ellsworth Community College, where he earned an Associate of Arts in 1983, and continued at the University of Northern Iowa, where he earned a triple degree. He holds a Master of Arts in Education (2004), a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (1998), and a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies (1995). ㅤ During his leadership at East High, Moses was instrumental in modernizing athletic infrastructure, overseeing major facility upgrades to the weight rooms, wrestling facilities, and cardio suites. His career in the district has truly come full circle; having first stepped into a Waterloo classroom in 1998, he has dedicated nearly 30 years to the mission of the district. This journey of service began as a social studies and leadership teacher at Logan Middle, Central Middle, and East High School, then working at Expo from 2008-2017 in the High School Educational Discipline Program, before his vision for student-athlete success led him into administration. ㅤ An accomplished coach in football, basketball, and track, Moses was named the 2005 MVC and Regional Coach of the Year for Boys Track and received a 25-year service honor from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches in 2019—a testament to a lifetime of investment in the youth of Waterloo. ㅤ “For 55 years, I’ve held a single vision: every Waterloo athlete, from every corner of the city, finally competing as one," said Moses. "The wait is over. Together, we are Waterloo United.” ㅤ “We are thrilled to appoint Tim Moses as the inaugural Athletic Director for Waterloo United. Tim’s deep roots and proven leadership at Waterloo East have built a legacy of service to our student-athletes. His passion for this community is unmatched, making him the ideal leader to guide our transition to a Waterloo United athletic program in the fall of 2028,” said Josh Payton, Director of Secondary Education and Athletics. ㅤ In addition to his work within the district, Moses is a respected voice in state athletics, serving on the Iowa High School Athletic Director Executive Committee and the UNI-Dome Campaign Steering Committee. His appointment marks a significant milestone as the district prepares to unite its athletic programs under the Waterloo United banner. #WaterlooProud #WaterlooUnited #OneWaterloo
