I’m serious about paid leave. Yeah, it’s fine for the public sector when the taxpayer pays the bill and most of the work is fake. How do people think it works in the private sector? You have a team of six people. One person goes AWOL for six months. What do you think happens to the other five people?

Ebay should cut seller fees for trading cards to 5% overnight. They would have complete domination over the marketplace immediately. The increased sales volume will make up for the lower fees. 13%+ is ridiculous

@KabutoKing_ a lot of the sales are funneled through the consignment operations on eBay, which 'do' have reduced fee structures.

you don't get 100+ percent at most auction houses. It's a clever trick they use, because you're ignoring the buyer's premium. You might get 100% of a $100.00 'sale' but if the buyer is paying a 25% bp (so $125.00 total price paid), you're 'paying' 20% of the total price paid to the auction house.

@KabutoKing_ @eBay I don’t think they do that. Do the fact that most action houses you get 100+ percent, and on top of that most of the top sellers are right in that the structure that would literally eliminate no benefit from them selling under their platform.

@chriswithans @BanMeElmo all protections voted for and implemented by people who live in a fantasy land and use the "it works in Europe!" line as a crutch, who have never run an actual business.

Yes, Americans have been adopting European-style "workplace protections" and thus a lot of businesses simply do not hire anyone they do not know because they could be sued or be on the hook for disability, worker's compensation, or some paid leave. It's not as bad as Europe but it's getting there. Every single person you hire is a risk. Larger corporations might have more tolerance for this but now they go through extensive rounds of interviews, as if to weed out the bad actors by attrition.

My argument is that if I was going to hire someone, I am absolutely, without a doubt, going to take this into consideration (aka WHY would a business owner take a chance hiring a 20-30 year old woman, when there is a chance your business will be disrupted by this). Oh, because "it's illegal" to discriminate for that reason? I live in the real world and if women think this won't end up hurting them in the end, they are delusional.
