@sueblueswilson @Owennfa @MatthewQu1nn Some pics of the deck I made him build with me. Has 4 electrical outlets in the floor around the deck. Included plumbing, electric, and masonary skills. He ran the radial arm saw, used a level and square. I made him change his oil this week.

@jws08050 @Owennfa My daily is a 2012 VW Tiguan that I bought blown up for $500 bucks. Still have my 1987 Toyota MR2 that I had in high school, and a 74 FJ40 I'm restoring in my garage.

Yep. I have 5 vehicles. One has 25,000. The rest... 140K 2004 box truck 170K 2007 Sante Fe (daughters car and she loves it) 168K My car 2015 Acadia (just put in a new trans going for 300K) 115K My son's Caddillac. (I bought it new in 2007) My last vehicle was a 2001 Toyota Sequoia with 300K miles. I bought it new. If the frame didn't rust I was going to have it painted and re-upholstered. There was nothing left to weld to the frame. People think they deserve a new BMW every 3 years.

@jws08050 @Owennfa Heck most my furniture was facebook marketplace secondhand stuff. Drive a 15 year old vehicle, eat at home almost always, and invest as much money as I can.

@MatthewQu1nn @Owennfa And the unwillingness to live with milk crate furniture till you get your shit together. (like I did) Milk crates tied together with zip ties, piece of plywood on top, and sheets thrown over them for end tables. But I owned my house.

@DammitBits Damn I was paying $1200 a month back in 1991 in La Jolla for a studio back then. The window view was a parking lot with banks of pay phones.

Some Americans are such complete idiots that they think you can “get a place” making $17 an hour when a studio apartment in Southern California is $1300 a month.
