Not sure if this is Netherlands or Germany …. Imagine cycling into a pedestrian at speed sending them flying and then continuing to beat your personal best without hesitation…… I don’t want the uk to be like this … we need laws to protect pedestrians….

@tadpies @ealingMPS @theJeremyVine @RoadCrime It's worth pointing out that had officers attended there isn't a power to seize this bicycle for having defective brakes. We would have been able to issue a fine but not take the bicycle.

@ChaponaBike123 There are a number of tests available to officers around ebikes not limited to lifting the bike and checking throttle assistance. We encourage local teams to reach out to us if looking at an operation to tackle these devices so that we can assist.

So there’s some sort of roadside test an officer can do to work out if something is a motorbike or not. Back wheel up in the air, accelerate, look for signs of excessive self propulsion? How does it all work? Anyone?
