@TheLaurenChen Bad take. Grandchildren of boomers should be wrapping up high school around now. Women with boomer parents are likely aging out. Truth is they’d rather party. It’s because they’re all stuck in a teenager mindset. Main character syndrome. Might be mad they aren’t coddled.

Boomers don't want to hear this, but one of the (many) reasons why my generation isn't having as many kids? A lot of millennials feel they can't depend on their parents for help the way they saw their own grandparents pitch in when they were growing up

@jondelarroz I like it as much as season one. Fun enough with a heart warming last couple episodes. Watched with my kids and they loved it. Didn’t feel woke either. Hate all you want, but you shouldn’t let popularity guide all your decisions.

I didn’t bother watching Woke Piece season 2. Netflix dropping them all at once means the media cycle died quickly so there’s no point. No one’s talking about it anymore as a result. It bombed.

Henry Cavill and his longtime partner, Natalie Viscuso. They aren't particularly looks-matched. Most would agree he is noticeably better looking than her. Yet examples like this are quite common. It highlights how men frequently prioritize loyalty, honesty, and compatibility over purely superficial looks.

Within moderation this viewpoint works. Hippies are a scourge. You’re wealthy and can provide for your family. You’ve already done the work. For new families, a parent adopting this philosophy can sink the ship if they go too far. And often they disregard what they really spend and then scoff at the parent carrying to extra weight.

My outlook on money has always borrowed from Buddhism. Desire is suffering. The less you want, the better off you feel. If you can take a walk in the sun, and really enjoy it, what does that cost.

Rather than move forward with spinoffs that cling to the original The Lord of the Rings movies, maybe the time has come to give the franchise a full, Harry Potter-style reboot. bit.ly/4rY74wY

I fear this might be my most controversial take ever, but I agreed to put it to a vote so here we are. Hoodies should only be worn by men young enough not to look silly carrying a skateboard.

This tracks. I went through the whole “omg McDonald’s is poison”. Then you grow up and realize it’s consistent, has decent macros if you don’t order crap, and it tastes amazing. 2 McDoubles and a Diet Coke is an elite meal when you’re on the road.

CBR writer Ajay Aravind on why he thinks The Lord of The Rings trilogy is tough to watch: "There's far too much moral clarity in The Lord of the Rings for the story to feel authentic and relatable. With very few exceptions, the heroes are always good and the villains are always evil. And yet, the 21st century has no place for black-and-white perspectives." How does one come to this kind of conclusion?

In a heart-stopping ordeal that tested the limits of human endurance, a simple fishing trip turned into one of the Pacific’s most gripping survival sagas and later, a bitter courtroom clash. On a crisp November day in 2012, Salvadoran fisherman José Salvador Alvarenga and 22-year-old crewmate Ezequiel Córdoba left Mexico’s coast for what was supposed to be a routine two-day shark-fishing run in their small fiberglass boat. Fierce storms slammed them without warning. Massive waves flooded the engine, wrecked their electronics, and forced them to dump nearly 500 kilograms of fresh catch to stay afloat. With no motor, no radio, and no oars, the vessel drifted helplessly into the open ocean. For 438 days more than 14 months they battled isolation, hunger, and scorching sun. They survived on raw fish, seabirds, turtles, and turtle blood, rationing every drop of rainwater. After roughly two months, Córdoba fell gravely ill. He refused to eat the only food left, grew weaker, and dîêd. Devastated, Alvarenga kept his friend’s body aboard for nearly a week, speaking to it as if he were still alive, before gently pushing it overboard. Alone and hallucinating, Alvarenga finally washed ashore on a remote Marshall Islands atoll in January 2014, emaciated but alive. His tale stunned the world until Córdoba’s family filed a $1 million lawsuit, accusing him of cannibalism to survive. Alvarenga has always denied the claim, insisting the men had vowed never to cross that line and that he passed a lie detector test. He called the suit a cruel bid for book royalties after his story became public. What started as bad weather became a nightmare of loss, endurance, and lingering doubt.

The fisherman who survived 14 months lost at sea was later sued for $1 million by the family of his crewmate, who accused him of cannibalism. After fierce winds disabled their boat, the two drifted across the Pacific for months, surviving on fish, birds, and turtle blood. When he washed ashore 438 days later at the southernmost tip of the Marshall Islands, he was alone. He said his crewmate’s condition worsened after two months, and he eventually died after refusing to eat. The fisherman kept the body on the boat for nearly a week, talking to it as if he were still alive, before finally pushing it overboard.

@_ChaoticGood42 @grok @dom_lucre It’s sad when people let their imagination trump reality because it makes them feel good. It’s not just a small cup of milk. It’s many cups of milk and a bunch of plastic garbage.
