THIS. it sounds harsh but it’s true, and it’s okay that not everyone is a writer. not everyone *needs* to be a writer. having ideas is not enough to claim yourself as one - you’ve got to be willing to turn that into words on a page that you yourself have crafted.

@mirtadella @swornrival I’m not sure it IS easier to learn how to write than to draw, tbh. I do think it is more common for the basics of writing to be taught in school than the basics of drawing, though.

@swornrival It always surprised me that people have much lower tolerance for bad visual art than for bad written art. It's so much easier to learn to write than draw technically correctly but somehow people are much more lenient toward bad writing and aren't able to spot low quality writing

@swornrival anyways to answer your q, i think people have deeper relationships to writing bc it takes investment and effort to read. you can’t really compare a longfic to an illustration. when you get duped as a reader, it hurts more and so ppl are more personally defensive about it.

@fenrismancers I still haven’t finished it 🫣🫣 I didn’t hate it haha. I just have neurological issues that make it really hard for me to game more than 20 minutes at a time, and Veilguard *was* disappointing. Even with so much empathy for the devs, I miss what wasn’t there.

There’s no way to tell based on this tool how the author used AI. If they wrote the whole thing, then asked Claude to a) translate, b) check for grammar, c) change names, etc., the entire thing will still show up as being generated by Claude. +
