in regards to the fic bookmarks discussion, and any fic discourse in general, it eventually always becomes abt writers’ feelings and readers’ duties to take care of those feelings, and this supports the idea that in fandom community, writers are more important than readers

i also think whenever this topic comes up, writers should change their mindset from “look at these ungrateful, opinionated readers” to “what can i do to protect myself?” bc there are options. and it’s better to rely on yourself to protect your own feelings than strangers online.
