@aseitzwald Maine is like the Switzerland of America - lots of political independents and wants to stay apart from the fiery cauldron of national politics. Maybe federal funding will save her, Maine is poor. But polls show that Collins’ moral bankruptcy and incoherent shtick is getting old.
English

Underappreciated in #MESEN: Susan Collins chairs the Appropriations Committee and has been making it absolutely rain all over the state.
GOP leaders and WH are very interested in helping her keep her seat, so she's been able to bring $425 million+ to Maine in FY2026 alone.

@AllisterHeath From my side of the Atlantic, Britain is much less of a laughing stock now than during the Johnson/Truss/Sunak debacle.

@policecommander I believe a British PM once called it a paper for people who can read but cannot think.

The paper that cheered for:
- Brexit
- Johnson
- Truss
- Farage
- Reform
Now cheering for Trump.
Thereby remaining reliably, catastrophically wrong about pretty much everything…

@simonmontefiore Kate Winslet for Valenchka. Could Hugh Grant do Stalin?

This is exciting. I've written a movie screenplay called WINSTON & JOE.
To be made by these great producers 6th & Idaho.
It is the story of the clash, crisis & conciliation of Churchill & Stalin at their August 1942 meeting. In our age of autocrats, it could not be more relevant. They almost fell out which would have destroyed the Grand Alliance.
This is a study of power but it is also an unexpected love story between two tough warlords who meet, who argue and then charm each other.
These are brilliant parts for great actors but the story also includes (unexpectedly) some wonderful female role including Stalin's teenage daughter and his mistress-housekeeper...

Rest in Peace Jennifer Runyon Corman. ❤️💔🙏 Can't believe she's gone. I miss my sweet friend and costar. We got to play pregnant 1950’s pilots’ wives at Edward's Airforce Base for several weeks along with Dean Stockwell and Scott Bakula in the Quantum Leap pilot. May her precious family have the Peace that passes all understanding. There is no death, only infinite Love. God Bless her and rest her soul. Had hoped to visit her in Idaho where she moved to raise her children during Covid. #jenniferrunyon #restinpeace #quantumleap

@tripgabriel @rolandsmartin One of the articles of impeachment against Nixon was selling ambassadorships for $250K.

Joe Schwartz was in prison for fraud. So the payments began:
$1M to operatives close to Laura Loomer. Thousands to lawyers close to Trump's 'pardon czar'
His "costly campaign offers rare visibility into the pardon industry that has emerged around Trump"

@Doylech @DalrympleWill As an uncouth American I humbly ask which is more out of touch with the British people: the monarchy or Fleet Street?

OMG! Sorry all! 🤣 This was supposed to be a DM to someone outside the U.S. — about the SNOW in New York City!
I know this may have sounded weird (and very dirty) but it’s about a SNOWSTORM! - not me! 🤣 Thanks to the 3 dirty minds who wrote to me.
And yes, the snow is done!

About 15 inches (38 centimeters?) early this morning. Definitely the biggest in a long time. Now, it has diminished to almost nothing.

@exitthelemming I also liked him in Edward VII and Nicholas & Alexandra.

The first episode of Brass was broadcast on this day in 1983. Written by Julian Roach and John Stevenson, it ran for two series on ITV before a short-lived revival by C4 in 1990.

@MollyJongFast A new Democratic administration should have a big bonfire of all these banners in 2029. Make it a fundraiser or something.

@RossBarkan This childish rant from the bitter has-been proves how lucky we are that he’s no longer mayor. I guess his crypto scams aren’t working out.

@PeterTwinklage @MollyJongFast Kathy is a smart, pragmatic, and quietly competent governor. She just does the job and doesn’t make noise. After the tenure of vain, corrupt drama queens like Cuomo and Adam’s it’s a huge relief.

Kathy Hochul’s tenure as governor

Chris Marquette@ChrisMarquette_
Hochul told the president that the project was running on budget and on schedule and asked Trump why he was making the process difficult given the court’s ruling. Trump said he would talk to his people. The full amount of the money owed was disbursed Wednesday.

Hard not to love everything about Robert Duvall’s work. And though I don’t agree with him on Kubrick (but what do I know?), his honesty of informed opinion was singular. I’ve watched this conversation, calling Kubrick “the actor’s enemy,” many times.

After ‘The Godfather’ made him a movie star in his 40s, he remained a beloved character actor for half a century, adding ‘I love the smell of napalm in the morning’ to the cultural lexicon. on.wsj.com/4tJO5bO
