Access to legal aid is an important aspect of legal rights which ensures people with minimal financial means are able to access justice. We continue to prioritize legal rights of marginalized groups with a legal aid scheme that is accessible, transparent & available to everyone.

NLAS is the only government agency mandated to offer legal aid to vulnerable & marginalized persons. However to serve the larger public in need of legal assistance, we accredit other institutions and individuals to offer legal aid within their areas of operations. #NLAS #LegalAid

We don't charge or request favors for our services. No legal aid provider, agent or #NLAS staff shall demand, request or receive payments from a person granted legal aid. Our duty is to serve marginalized, vulnerable & economically challenged persons. #LegalAid #AccessToJustice

Did you know? A person who obstructs anyone held in lawful custody from applying for legal aid from #NLAS commits an offence. A court before which a person who cannot afford legal representation is presented should also inform #NLAS to provide legal aid #LegalAid #AccessToJustice

Children automatically qualify for legal aid offered by #NLAS. In civil cases, application for legal aid for a child can be made by parent, guardian or next friend. In criminal cases a child offender is granted legal aid at all stages of the case. #NLAS #LegalAid #AccessToJustice
