Felicitamos a los oficiales costarricenses por la captura esta mañana de Alejandro Arias Monge, alias “Diablo”, en Sarapiquí. Alejandro Arias Monge era el líder de una violenta organización criminal transnacional (OCT) y el fugitivo más buscado de Costa Rica. Arias tenía múltiples órdenes de arresto en Costa Rica por narcotráfico, robo, homicidio agravado y lavado de dinero. La Oficina de Asuntos Internacionales de Narcóticos y Aplicación de la Ley del Departamento de Estado ofreció una recompensa de hasta $500,000 por información que condujera al arresto y/o condena de Alejandro Arias Monge. Esta mañana nuestros pensamientos están con los valientes oficiales costarricenses que resultaron heridos durante este operativo. Los felicitamos por su valentía y la habilidad con la que llevaron a cabo esta importante detención.

El Subsecretario de Estado para Asuntos Internacionales de Narcóticos y Aplicación de la Ley @StateINL, Cart Weiland, visitó @ILEASanSalvador para conocer sus instalaciones y observó parte del desarrollo del Curso Avanzado Antipandillas. Este curso, que se lleva a cabo durante toda esta semana, reúne a 40 participantes de Bahamas, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica y El Salvador y fortalece la cooperación regional en materia de seguridad.

Juntos apoyaremos el combate a organizaciones terroristas designadas como tales por el Departamento de Estado de los Estados Unidos en la región y fortaleceremos las capacidades humanas y tecnológicas de nuestra @PNCSV.
