Europe has chosen rights without strength, markets without power, ideology over realism. Therefore it’s irrelevant. We need a Europe capable of selecting, producing, and asserting itself. Industry, technology, defense, future. Without this, there is only subjugation.

Let’s strike them with full force. We will endure further retaliation and grow stronger. First and foremost, it’s a matter of self-respect at this point.
Gandalv@Microinteracti1

Donald Trump has announced a 25 percent tariff on all cars and trucks imported from the European Union, claiming the bloc failed to honour a trade agreement negotiated with Washington. “Build them here!” he added, in the helpful tone of a man who has never built anything more complex than a golf course. This is not the opening shot. The 25 percent rate was already in place before a US-EU trade deal last August brought it down to 15 percent. Today’s announcement tears up that reduction. Brussels is not surprised. It has been watching Washington do this before: just days after reaching a deal with the United Kingdom, Trump reimposed tariffs on British steel and aluminium anyway. The EU took note. Sitting ready is 93 billion euros in retaliatory tariffs, held back since the summer truce. Behind that sits the Anti-Coercion Instrument, the trade bazooka adopted in 2023 and never yet fired, which allows the EU to restrict American investments and strip intellectual property protections from US firms operating in Europe. The numbers at stake are not small. European manufacturers export around 56 billion euros worth of vehicles to the United States every year. Germany and Italy are most exposed. Oxford Economics estimated German automotive exports would fall by over seven percent under precisely this scenario. Nearly 14 million European jobs are tied to the industry. The EU has loaded the weapon. It is now waiting to see whether it needs to pull the trigger. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

Something a lot of people don't see. Trump thinks US troops in Germany are there to protect Germany. They're not. They're there because the US needs the bases to be able to carry out US operations beyond the north American continent. Trump doesn't understand this basic fact.
Rep. Don Bacon 🇺🇸✈️🏍️⭐️🎖️@RepDonBacon

The continued attacks on NATO allies are counterproductive. The comments hurt Americans. I commanded the huge Ramstein AB in Germany. The two big airfields in Germany give us great access in three continents. We are shooting ourselves in our own feet.

Their program is: -deindustrialization to save the environment; - demilitarization to save peace; - open borders to save immigrants. None of that would be saved, we would just commit suicide.

-Install military bases in Europe to project your military power; -Hurt the interests of your European allies; -Cry like a fag because they don’t help you; -Withdraw from Europe, depriving yourself of military power projection to punish your allies. Ok, retard, hurry up though.

🚨 HOLY SMOKES. President Trump is now considering withdrawing troops from SPAIN and ITALY — on top of GERMANY "Why SHOULDN'T I?" "Italy hasn't been any help...Spain has been HORRIBLE." "When we needed them, they WERE NOT THERE." Trump is DONE with useless allies 🔥

🇺🇸 A lawsuit against JP Morgan Chase claims a male employee was drugged and sexually assaulted by a racist dominatrix. Doe, who is of Asian descent, claims Hajdini admitted to drugging him with Rohypnol and Viagra to ensure he could perform during coerced encounters and that she remarked that at least his genitals did not "taste like curry". In another alleged incident, Hajdini removed her shirt, began fondling her breasts, and insulted Doe’s wife, remarking, "I bet your little Asian, fish-head wife doesn’t have these cannons." JP Morgan contests that the claims are "meritless", and Hajdini has not faced disciplinary action. If the military aid to Kiev doesn’t stop Moscow allegedly is going to make strike on the logistic hubs on the EU territory from where this aid comes to Ukraine. Nuke or not is yet to decide.

@FoghJohn @euromaximal I’m advocating this: Brussels should be able to compel everyone to build up the military and to cut benefits if necessary, and also to deploy European troops in every theater. You should also consider that until 1861, within Italy there were actual kingdoms and state entities.

@NeonPrinceps @euromaximal Either Brussels can compel Italy to: "cut benefits and build military" or it can't. Can it compel Italy to deploy troops to fight in the Falklands or not? You extra-national abilities, while trying to retain national sovereignty. Comparing states within a country is different.

A more united Europe is a necessity for the survival of individual European nations. There’s no way each country could survive when hegemonic empires like Russia, China and the US have so much power. Only united does Europe have a chance 🇪🇺

@FoghJohn @euromaximal I know, it’s not easy. But again, every union/confederation does this. I’m Italian, there are similar discussions between wealthier and poorer regions inside Italy, and it’s united since 1861.

@FoghJohn @euromaximal We can choose to sacrifice some national interests in order to unite and achieve the power needed to pursue the remaining ones. Or we can choose to sacrifice all national interests in favour of China, Russia, and the USA. It’s not a hard choice. Americans have already done it.

@NeonPrinceps @euromaximal You will have to surrender those national interests to a federal government. Domestically very unpopular. Free-riders spend on domestic benefits, rather than national defense or shared infrastructure.

Immigration isn’t a solution to anything. It’s like trying to cure an infection in your hand by cutting your arm off. You just replaced one sickness with another. And the original infection is the probably still there.
Joni Askola@joni_askola

Europe must stop the wishful thinking on demographics. We can try to increase birth rates, but no country has actually succeeded at it. We cannot count on miracles to save our economies. We need real solutions right now, and immigration is absolutely one of them

@FoghJohn @euromaximal Texas and New York are different. A Black New Yorker is different from a WASP New Yorker. Yet they still manage to remain united, despite being far less homogeneous than Europeans. They initially united to repel an external threat. We have plenty of those.

@euromaximal A "United Europe" isn't a new idea. Load of Kings and dictators have had the same idea. Your problem is the Europe is a geography, not an identity. So now the idea is that Germans rule you from Brussels instead of Berlin?
