This is a story of Protestant under-achievement and,
Political dereliction from the DUP and TUV.
The old ‘Protestant work ethic’ is still there, but the old jobs aren’t.
Instead of crying about educated Catholics, perhaps Jim Allister should bring forward policy proposals designed to improve education outcomes for young Protestants?
But he will not.
Allister is a grifter and a charlatan.
Unionists must not be fooled by this pathetic pound-shop Paisley.

All over Belfast you now see people proudly wearing GAA tops - unthinkable when I was young due to fears of violence. It truly is becoming a shared city where all identities can be cherished.

Unionists residing in Ireland = Irish
British people in Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) = British
Seems simple actually.

It’s the height of political cynicism to bemoan a lack of Protestant professionals while failing to address the educational crisis on his own doorstep for decades. Instead of fixating on PPS quotas, why not work to end the brain drain and actually get PUL kids into university?

Arch separatists Sinn Féin have failed, yet again, to block a proposal to sign the Armed Forces Covenant in Belfast.
They attempted to stop a DUP motion through obscure council committee processes, though were outwitted once more..

Day 2 and still silent from thw unionists loyalist but if it had of been the other outlook you could be sure they would all be flat out on here.. it just proves that any killing by state army is ok in there eyes .. how can anyone work alongside these people .. RIP to the victims

A clear, but measured judgment.
It is clear that the soldiers did not act in a reasonable manner - to put it mildly.
But one thing ignored by most media outlets, apart from RTÉ, is that the regiment should never have been deployed on that fateful evening.
Two members of the 1st Kings Regiment were shot and injured by the IRA a matter of hours before the dreadful Springhill Massacre.
The soldiers were fired-up, petrified, and lustful for revenge.
By today’s standards, those men would have remained in the barracks, instead they were on the streets of Springhill a matter of hours after the attempted murder of their friends and comrades.
A tragic observation, an explanation but certainly not a justification.
I wish peace upon the families of those murdered on that day.

Springhill Inquest findings: The Coroner finds that all 5 of the deceased were shot by soldiers from 1st Kings Regiment, firing from Corry’s yard, in breach of yellow card and that force used by soldiers was unreasonable!

@NeutralPulse_ Like any army, they tended to focus on the perceived enemy, the IRA.
That created the conditions for higher casualties in republican areas.
But to describe the entire organisation as sectarian is mythological hyperbole.

@BaronoftheMaine Emotions of soldiers should not equate to killing civilians. You know this is an implied excuse. Hang your head in shame. Though you hate nationalists, we all grieve the same and murder is murder. You cannot condemn the IRA without condemning the British army.

This sinister & cowardly attack has shown a level of learning by the terrorist.
In Lurgan the Timer Power Unit (TPU) failed & the devise didn’t detonate. This time the TPU didn’t fail.
