@JoeA_NFL How dumb are you? Cook alone would have improved this D. Trey was out a lot of last year. They added Mafe, Allen and Dex to line. They’ll be better. They don’t need a top d, they need 15 or so D and they’ll be Super Bowl contenders.

The Bengals have managed to get more expensive without getting tangibly better as a team. Sexy Dexy is great! But one DT doesn't fix that defense, and rhey're RAPIDLY running out of cap space... Star contracts at QB, WR×2, DT, but still battling for 2nd in the division.

@JoeA_NFL Trey only got to the QB, was the “leader” of a horrible defense, bitched for years about money when he was the one that asked for the extra year, and when they gave him 14 million more? He didn’t bother coming back from an injury… cancer.

Personally, I would rather have an elite Edge rusher and the 10th overall pick rather than an elite nose tackle. Refusing to pay Trey Hendrickson just so that you can pay Dexter Lawrence and lose your first round pick is kind of insane.

The #Bengals are expected to hammer out a significant long-term deal with DT Dexter Lawrence as part of the trade, once he passes his physical, per sources. A very un-Bengals move … but this is a changing organization. And their actions confirm it.

Bengals going well against the (their) grain is undoubtedly desperation, though. It is what it is. GMs on the hot seat act to keep their jobs, not to do what’s best for the team.
