The Gauteng Police Counterfeit Unit, working with brand protectors, has intensified operations targeting counterfeit and illicit goods across the province. In Langlaagte, Johannesburg, police raided a storage facility on 3 June 2026 and seized 3 096 boxes of counterfeit Goldstar yeast worth about R52 300. Two vehicles were confiscated and one suspect was arrested for possession and distribution of counterfeit goods. In a separate operation in Germiston on 1 June 2026, officers inspected six shops and seized counterfeit clothing, cellphone accessories, consumable products and illicit pharmaceuticals valued at more than R208 000. Police say the operations are part of ongoing efforts to protect consumers, support legitimate businesses and curb illicit trade. @TaxJustice_SA
