Surging Sparks may NOT be that great of a buy....let me explain.
Sets like Surging Sparks seems like a no brainer buy right now. Maybe the low valuation could be attributed to the last Main Set to get MAJOR reprints for Booster Boxes. Multiple times actually, not even one reprint...multiple and we haven't seen reprints of Booster Boxes of any kind since.
Maybe that's why Surging is one of the least expensive Booster Boxes out there

Maybe Surging gets the Vivid Voltage treatment. A set that everybody raved and was hyped about the Chonkachu and was printed into the ground. Then sets like Evolving Skies, Brilliant, Lost Origin, Silver Tempest, Crown Zenith and then MUCH later Fusion Strike gained in popularity. Vivid was thrown to the waste side, forgotten about and shown to be a relatively weak set compared to those other behemoths.
This sounds eerily accurate to Surging Sparks.
Surging had massive reprints. Booster Boxes, ETBs, Booster Bundles and packs thrown in every collection box. It was the last Main Set to get hammered by the printers before Pokemon shifted focus to ancillary products and printing Prismatic into the ground.
Surging has the beautiful Butt Hole Pikachu, a massively hyped card but look what sets released AFTER Surging Sparks. Prismatic, Destined Rivals, Mega Evolution Base, Phantasmal (Generation Grail Charizard Card) and now Ascended Heroes.
I think the wisest move is to maintain caution with a set like Surging. The comparison to Vivid Voltage is oddly accurate as hell in all facets. BUT maybe the set was just heavily printed and still widely available and that's what's holding it back.
