Cosby's story is so amazing. A mere two decades after the attainment of full civil rights in America, the number one ranked TV show at the height of that medium's influence was a sitcom about two prosperous, educated professional black parents raising a family with a black man in the role of "America's Dad." And all along, the actor who conceived of the show as a showcase for exemplary black lives that would serve as a model to uplift his people and restore both paternal authority and responsibility as the centerpiece of that effort, who achieved the thing he sought -- was serially drugging and raping women.

An apt comparison of what has happened to Swalwell would be Bill Cosby. The rumors about him drugging women circulated for years. Nothing came of them until he started telling black people to stop blaming all their troubles on whites. Then they took him out. It seems people collect dirt on prominent figures for years and years - and it all stays quiet if you toe the line. If you upset the powers that be - off with his head. It’s all a game of moral hypocrisy and sleaze.

@DefiantLs Because many American whites have multiple white ancestries from hundreds of years ago they have no connection to because they haven't identified as scottish or irish since their ancestors arrived 400 years ago. White to these people just means American.

Brian Jacques explains why he does not have sympathetic villains in his Redwall series: "When I was a boy, morality was taught in school and in church but I think that is no longer true to the extent that it used to be. I try to create very clear moral signposts of what is right and what is wrong. The children who read my books are generally at an age where they need to have things spelled out in 'black and white,' without ambiguity. I often tell my readers that my baddies are bad and my goodies are good. I won't have sympathetic baddies and schizophrenic goodies in my books." Should more writers do this?

@mysteriouskat Reds don't ban people nearly as often or hide/protect their posts, so they get more engagement. Blues are also consistent in their opinions mostly, while the reds have a wide range. Half the Mark Levin, Jackson Hinkle, and Laura Loomer engagements are reds calling them morons.

It always was antiscientific and is now. Conveniently shifting goalposts whenever new direct evidence against their own claims of the world, was presented. Re-Interpreting the Bible and still holding on to their other claims as discoveries kept coming. Because its a business, run off of fools. There is NOTHING scientific about a man walking on water. So your, specific claim about the Catholic Church being scientific is laughable. Reminds me of the Muslim claim, where theynclaim that the "Quran is scientific"

@imasatankid @roleandtell @TheRabbitHole The Catholic church was the foremost scientific organization for centuries. It has never been anti-science. Even the Galileo affair wasn't even a conflict. The church was ready to reinterpret scripture if he could prove his theories, but he couldn't.

That was the excuse scientists used to make, so then they don't get killed by the church for heresy. If it wasn't for that, we wouldnt be living in 2026. Now that isn't necessary to do that anymore. Precisely because we live in a less Christian society. And we know God doesn't exist.

@roleandtell @TheRabbitHole No, if the world wasn't more secular and more christian we would have the same theocracy that the middle east had. You can't simply attribute your bible, which literally goes against all we know about the world, to science which studies it.

Ironically, this isn’t really the kind of art that AI is threatening. It’s much more of a threat to artists who create representational art. A business or person that needs a logo or a mascot or an illustration would have once had to hire an artist, but now they have the cost-effective and time-saving option of using AI. But no one has need for AI to stack a bunch of buckets and watch them fall down. And, consequently, AI can’t do that. At least, not without some special augmentations. So, really, these artists are safest from the tech.

🔥CONTROVERSIAL TAKE🔥 Just rewatched HIGHLANDER after literally DECADES by proudly showing it to my son, and to my great embarrassment I found it was NOT the brilliant epic I remembered, but: Slow paced. Flashy. Clunky. Gaudy. Pedestrian sword fights. Barely noticed the Queen music. It is elevated a little when Sean Connery or Clancy Brown are on screen, but other than that, as Monty Python says in a sketch.... "whole thing's a bit silly." What, oh what was 1986 me thinking?? @JayTC53 @dom_lucre Apparently she's a big stage actress. Tony award winner, multiple Tony award nominee. Most people don't know stage actors, just screen actors. Plane was full of theater kids though, so her audience. Which is why she was surprised.

@harukaawake My understanding is the Yamato are a blend of people from Korea who migrated thousands of years ago and the Jomon, who were the original inhabitants. The Jomon became the Yamato, Ryukyu, and Ainu. Am I wrong?
