This is a product of two things. 1. MLBs media rights deals are a disaster. The RSN model is collapsing, but contractual obligations make the issue very difficult to fix. They’re very much in search mode for how to distribute games once they can fix it in 2028. 2. MLB is trying way too hard to attract fans who don’t already like baseball. By putting games on multiple services, they think they can reach more people. But they’re doing it at the expense of the fans who already love the game. I think that’s a mistake. Either way, it won’t be this way in a few years. The league knows it’s not sustainable.

A great reminder how passionate Ken Dryden was on reducing blows to the head in hockey and all contact sports. He cared so much about his former teammates, players he played against and the young players playing the game today. #ENDCTE @ConcussionCTEfn

Baseball is here. Spring is nearly upon us. I couldn’t be happier. It’s the perfect time to share this clip from Field of Dreams & the perfect time to remember James Earl Jones. This film is in the pantheon of all-time sports movies. Also featuring Oscar-winner Amy Madigan.

Major League Baseball is aired in the morning for Japan. So technically they eat breakfast with it being on television. Here’s their #openingday commercial. No hyperbole, when I say this, it might be greater than any US MLB commercial I’ve seen. Well done and worth the watch for any baseball fan.

Richie Garcia, former MLB umpire, on ABS system (via @AP): "I think it's embarrassing, embarrassing to the umpires that are calling the game. Nobody likes to be humiliated in front of 30,000, 40,000 people."

I miss the days when voting meant you had to go behind a curtain like you were in the dirty section of your local video store and then you just started pulling knobs and cranking levers like you were the fucking Wizard of Oz. It was phenomenal.
