Russian Orthodox Church declares the belief that Muslims and Christians share the same God is heresy

If you are a Christian who supports this, you are basically a heretic
English

@KhanFormBias @thaddeusthought Verily, I say to you, "verily" is a word of the aristocracy and the proper.
English

@thaddeusthought As a mathematics major with no authority in the field of linguistics, I'd argue the word "indeed" is indeed more sophisticated.
However, do not forget another.
"Verily" is superior.
English

@OrthodoxSi @orthodoxscribe Why would I intentionally misunderstand? I just don’t get it. That’s fine.

If you decide to become a catechumen in the Orthodox Church, your priest will encourage you to find positive things from your previous background and adapt that into Orthodoxy. For example, if you were atheist and highly valued science, you'll be encouraged to continue valuing that but through an Orthodox lens. Or if you were Buddhist and meditation was always important to you, you'd be encouraged to adapt that into the Jesus Prayer. This is because Orthodoxy doesn't want people running away from something; they only want converts who believe Orthodoxy is true. For this reason, not every catechumen remains a catechumen.
In that spirit, these are the things I highly value from Lutheranism that I'll be keeping and then adapting into Orthodoxy:
1. The distinction between Law & Gospel in homiletics & pastoral care is highly invaluable. I still practice this as a hospice chaplain.
2. The importance of liturgical structure & symbols.
3. The efficacy of the Word & Sacraments.
4. Luther's doctrine on vocation.
5. Participation of children in the liturgy.
6. The importance of Confession (the Office of the Keys).
7. Good works for the sake of your neighbor rather than personal merit (in Orthodoxy, this is part of asceticism, such as almsgiving).
This is meant to be a positive post, so keep your negativity between you and the devil. I have no interest in it.
English

@odtopole @orthodoxscribe Dude.
It's good to keep what is good.
We do know what is good and right.
It's to be determined by one's priest.
I feel you are intentionally misunderstanding the point.
English

@OrthodoxSi @orthodoxscribe That’s very dangerous. How do you know what’s good to bring forward? Keeping old theology you like? Best advice is be received, live orthodox life, through the church what’s good will naturally remain, what’s bad will fall away.
English

What he means is to bring what is good with you, and to not leave behind your good traits.
For example, an evangelical Christian, such as my Mother, is encouraged to keep that desire to evangelize.
Someone like myself I'd encouraged to keep my interest in science.
That is the point of this post.
Becoming Orthodox is leaving behind your past life, but it would be unwise to leave behind what is good.
English

@orthodoxscribe This is terrible advice. Nothing should be carried over and reinterpreted. You leave it behind. Praying is not a repackaged meditation. Your framing is awful saying yo are bringing them over? It should be you now know the truth of them. Non born Orthodox have some goofy ideas.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

if God arrived right now, sat down beside you and said: "your time here on earth is over." what would you say to Him?

12 years ago I was a homeless heroin addict. Today I launched my first quarter million dollar drill into the field and I work as a therapist with people coming out of prison.
Dream big. Trust in the Lord. The church truly is a fount of healing. I was 40 when God opened these doors do not think it is too late for you.
God is able to exceedingly abundantly beyond all we can ask or think.

When I was building spacecraft, one of our engineers would stand behind us while we were laying wire harnesses and read from the Bible.
We would sometimes pray before a large operation. He brought his Bible into the cleanroom and privately prayed over a vehicle before we sent it into test.
I'm pretty sure he prayed over the Orion that is being flown on Artemis II as well. The Orion team was just as religious, if not more religious, than we were.
We are "the science" and we're glad Astronaut Glover is as faithful as us.

Looks like Victor Glover pissed off even more Athei- Wait, why is r/Christianity upset?

@OrthodoxSi @MattWalshBlog Listen bro, if you removed the word "bro" from your opening sentence, you'd sound 10x more credible. Instead, you sound like your brain has been mushed by social media.
This is a factual statement.

There's basically no difference between this and the exact same kinds of "dumb spring breaker" videos you'd see 10 years ago or 20 years ago or 30 years ago. I actually don't mind the fact that a bunch of 18 and 19 year old kids are totally ignorant about world affairs. That's healthier than obsessively doomscrolling alone in your basement or whatever. The problem is that these kids can vote. We should all just agree that 19 year olds are stupid and don't know anything, and that's basically fine, but it's also why they shouldn't be able to vote. Raise the voting age to 25.

It's an empire deserving of a fall.
