Spanberger’s poll numbers are in the dumpster. Spanberger is attacking VA’s #2A rights. Spanberg is cheating by using a loophole so non-residence can vote. Spanberger has gone back to sanctuary city policies. Just like Spanberger lied to get elected, she is lying now.
The President and his allies are talking about taxes that our state legislature never even voted on and I certainly didn't sign. Why? Because if they don't flood the zone with fake news about fake taxes, people might hear about the bills I am signing to lower energy costs, strengthen our schools, make housing more affordable, and bring billions of dollars of business investment to Virginia.

🚨ANALYSIS: SLICK OBSCURITY: Va. Democrats count on voters NOT learning the ENTIRE truth. The President recently criticized Va.'s Governor for "adding so many Taxes, Food and Beverage Tax, Digital Services Tax, Utilities Tax, and more." Gov. Spanberger replied, "I’ve signed dozens of bipartisan bills into law to address high housing, healthcare, and energy costs — and not the[se] taxes the President and his allies are lying about." Her post is CIA-worthy SLICK OBSCURITY! Here's why:
1). @NoVA_Campaigns is 💯! Democrats refused to conform to new federal tax relief & Virginians will pay HUNDREDS of million$ in unnecessary state taxes on tips, etc. -- a bill that she signed into law on Feb. 20. Democrats refused the GOP's plan to temporarily suspend the state gas tax. This also is "more"!
2). In addition to the Democrats' carbon tax, their MASSIVE fees for "green" large-scale battery storage will take effect in the near future, again spiking utility/electricity bills. The President, in fact, did NOT lie.
3). The "more" that the President didn't specify include the Democrats' mandatory local collective bargaining that will surge property taxes, business costs for mandated paid leave, a mattress tax, etc.
4). And, for the most part, Spanberger's signed bills help PREFERRED groups at the great EXPENSE of EVERYONE else.
5). Finally, please excuse the President for not hearing about the FINAL disposition of the Food and Beverage Tax & Digital Services Tax. He's been busy saving Virginia from nuclear winter! What? You didn't think the Iranians would target the World's Largest Naval Base, the Pentagon, & the "Agency" -- all located in Virginia? But WAIT--
🚨There IS NO FINAL disposition of those taxes! The bill is still ALIVE! Democrats DID vote. They voted to "CONTINUE" the bill on a voice vote, meaning that they did NOT kill it & are seriously considering the idea. They "continued" it only because the entire nation was ridiculing it. It drew TOO much ATTENTION.
If the Governor & legislative Democrats SERIOUSLY opposed those tax hikes, here's a lesson in what they WOULD have done:
Governor calls a press conference: "I'm urging the General Assembly to KILL that monstrosity and, if not, I will veto it!"
Democrat Subcommittee chair: "I move to kill this monstrosity. Is there a second?"
ALL subcommittee members: "Second!"
Subcommittee chair: "Any discussion? No? All in favor of killing the bill?"

The President lied about me today on social media. While he tries to distract from the soaring gas prices and economic worry he has caused, here’s what we are doing in Virginia. I’ve signed dozens of bipartisan bills into law to address high housing, healthcare, and energy costs — and not the taxes the President and his allies are lying about. To name a few: ✅ Stopping predatory middlemen from driving up the cost of prescription drugs ✅ Incentivizing the construction of housing Virginians can actually afford ✅ Protecting families from covering the cost of energy infrastructure improvements ✅ Letting localities adopt affordable housing programs ✅ Incentivizing energy independence ✅ Investing in and growing our healthcare workforce ✅ Helping localities invest in new energy technology I’ve signed bills to accelerate $7.1 billion in capital investment projects that will bring more than 3,250 jobs to our Commonwealth — including taking the final step in a multi-year process to bring the second-largest economic development project ever in Southern Virginia. Instead of offering solutions to the problems he is both creating and actively making worse, the President scapegoats. He does it all the time. In Virginia, I am focused on providing stability for families, businesses, and communities — and delivering real results.
@GovernorVA Spanberger amended HB29, the “Caboose Budget” and signed it on Feb 20, 2026 - with it, she raised taxes by $200,000,000 on Virginians, striking the tax code changes to confirm with the new federal governments tax cuts. HB29 HAD conformed to the relevant tax cuts enacted by President Trump and Congress in H.R. 1, the Working Families Tax Cut Act, and included modified versions of “No Tax on Tips” and “No Tax on Car Loan Interest,” as well as reforms to make Virginia’s business climate more tax friendly. But when amended and signed by Governor Spanberger, the bill now reimposes those taxes, to the tune of $200 million of costs in FY26 put back on Virginians, as plainly stated in both the budget amendment language (“Striking the tax conformity language included in the introduced budget results in increased general fund revenues of $200.3 million in FY 2026”
