Describing technology using generations as the Americans do does not describe combat capability.
Stealth/low signature is the only clear feature that really places the F-35 in the 5th generation compared to the Gripen E.
The important thing to understand is that the Gripen E and the F-35 are based on completely different survival philosophies:
F-35: โavoid detectionโ โ passive survival through low signature (stealth)
Gripen E: โdeny targeting / break kill chainsโ โ active survival through advanced electronic warfare (EW)
The F-35 was designed over 30 years ago and its structural stealth forms only suppress x-band radar frequencies (8โ12 GHz). X-band radars were introduced in the early 2000s with the F-22 as the first fighter with the x-band AN/APG-77 radar and also among the air defense systems of the time. The Pentagon and Lockheed Martin could probably never have dreamed of the development that has taken place in the development and design of modern radar systems with multi-static radars supported by passive sensors. But the F-35's structural stealth shape comes with a cost, the aerodynamics are poor and it is slow, consumes a lot of fuel and the climbing characteristics are poor. Already now the Globaleye AEW&C has S-band radar which the F-35/F-22 structural stealth shapes are not designed to suppress. If you combine for example the GlobalEye AEW&C with Saab Giraffe ground-based air defense radars and Saab Sirius passive sensors and network them via data link, the Gripen does not even need to have its radar turned on at all but receives all information via data link and can fight stealth fighter aircraft and can defend itself against stealth aircraft with its EW

๐ฉ๐ฐ Danish broadcaster TV 2 reports that Denmark is sending a larger number of soldiers to Greenland. A larger contingent of Danish troops is expected to arrive in Kangerlussuaq on Monday, according to the report.
