There are many false claims in this letter but let me address one specifically: that "Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation."   This is the same false claim that Democrats and some in the liberal media have been repeating over and over.   As President Trump has clearly and explicitly stated, he had strong and compelling evidence that Iran was going to attack the United States first.   This evidence was compiled from many sources and factors. President Trump would never make the decision to deploy military assets against a foreign adversary in a vacuum.   Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. The Iranian regime is evil. It proudly killed Americans, waged war against our country, and openly threatened us all the way up to the launch of Operation Epic Fury.   Iran was aggressively expanding their short-range ballistic missiles to combine with their naval assets to give themselves immunity – meaning they would have a degree of a capabilities that would give them immunity to hold us and the rest of the world hostage.   The regime aimed to use those ballistic missiles as a shield to continue achieving their ultimate goal – nuclear weapons.   The President, through his top negotiators, gave the regime every single possible opportunity to abandon this unacceptable course by permanently giving up their nuclear ambitions in exchange for sanctions relief, free nuclear fuel, and potential economic partnerships with our country.   But they would not say yes to peace because obtaining nuclear weapons was their fundamental goal.   President Trump ultimately made the determination that a joint attack with Israel would greatly reduce the risk to American lives that would come from a first strike by the terrorist Iranian regime and address this imminent threat to America’s national security interests.   All of this led to President Trump arriving at the determination that this military operation was necessary for U.S. national security, which is why he launched the massively successful Operation Epic Fury. The Commander-in-Chief determines what does and does not constitute a threat, because he is the one constitutionally empowered to do so - and because the American people went to the ballot box and entrusted him and him alone to make such final judgments. And finally, the absurd allegation that President Trump made this decision based on the influence of others, even foreign countries, is both insulting and laughable. President Trump has been remarkably consistent and has said for DECADES that Iran can NEVER possess a nuclear weapon. As someone who actually witnesses President Trump’s decision-making process on a daily basis, I can attest to the fact that he is always looking to do what’s in the best interest of the United States of America — period. America First.
Joe Kent@joekent16jan19

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

You're clueless. For thousands of years humans have developed the concept of property rights, which is the only reason we have civilization. As we've become more civilized wars have become more about the political management of the land, but not its individual ownership. Israel is wholly unique in being almost entirely a country that was stolen from its owners in the modern era, after theft of land by conquest had been abandoned by most civilized societies. People like to compare it to the US, but most US settlers homestead unowned land, as there was no system of private property when they came. saifedean.substack.com/p/property-rig…

If Iran had attempted to control Hormuz last month, the whole world would have united against them, fought them & sanctioned them into submission. Trump's war means they need only a few hundred cheap drones along thousands of mountainous coastline to control it for many months
Robert A. Pape@ProfessorPape

Iran is more powerful now than before the war — it controls the price of world oil and more likely to fracture the US coalition than US is to grow it. Stunning gains in 17 days

All empires throughout history have murdered and stolen land. It's the sad fact of human history that each person alive today stands on the graves of the dead who only wanted to live in peace but had to die for the wars of others. We can all breathe air today because even the most belligerent empires were reasonable enough to not destroy the world. Maybe you're the brainwashed one for believing that Iran would have been a safe custodian of nuclear weapons. As intelligent as you are, Mr. Ammous, I'm sure your fans, followers, and readers hope that is not the case.

@saifedean You mean Israel? In any case, the world doesn't need two mortal enemies who both have nuclear weapons. At least one of them has shown that it can exercise self-restraint. The other one would have been wholly unpredictable and therefore terrifying to the world

@PassedStranger The real risk of nuclear weapons is in the hands of the genocidal theocratic ethnostate that views all outsiders as goyim: subhuman cattle. Trump is doing this for them.

PCV vaccine to be included in national programme after 8-year push The pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) will be included in Thailand’s National Immunization Program (NIP), making the country the 179th out of 194 worldwide to introduce the vaccine for children. The Pediatric Infectious Disease Society of Thailand (PIDST) said in a statement on March 16 that the decision follows an eight-year campaign by paediatricians and healthcare professionals to secure access to the vaccine. The society said the proposal had faced repeated delays during the approval process. On Feb 2, the board of the National Health Security Office (NHSO) initially decided to postpone the vaccine’s inclusion and proposed piloting it in only one province or region, while reallocating a previously approved 225-million-baht budget. However, after doctors and medical organisations raised concerns and presented additional data, authorities reviewed the decision and agreed to proceed with nationwide vaccination. The previously allocated 225 million baht will now be used to fund PCV vaccination for children across the country in the programme’s first year. The rollout is expected to begin after August once procurement and training are completed. Doctors say invasive pneumococcal disease continues to affect children in Thailand, with an estimated two to four cases reported daily. #Thailand #PCV #Vaccines

🚨BREAKING: SecDef Pete Hegseth stares right at the press and goes scorched earth, spelling out their insanity. I could watch this all day. "You, and I mean specifically YOU, the press, you cheer against Trump so hard, it's in your DNA and in your blood to cheer against Trump, because you want him not to be successful so bad, you have to cheer against the efficacy of these strikes. You have to hope maybe they weren't effective." "Maybe the way the Trump administration is representative isn't true. So let's take half truths, spun information, leaked information, and then spin it, spin it in every way we can to try to cause doubt and manipulate the mind, the public mind, over whether or not our brave pilots were successful." "How many stories have been written about how hard it is to, I don't know, fly a plane for 36 hours? Has MSNBC done that story? Has Fox? Have we done the story how hard that is?" "There are so many aspects of what our brave men and women did that because of the hatred of this press corps are undermined because people are trying to leak and spin that it wasn't successful. It's irresponsible." "You're undermining the success of incredible B-2 pilots and incredible F-35 pilots and incredible refuelers and incredible air defenders who accomplished their mission." "How about we talk about how special America is, that only we have these capabilities? I think it's too much to ask, unfortunately, for the fake news. So we're used to that." Do you firmly support Pete Hegseth on this? A. Huge Yes B. No IF Yes, Give me a THUMBS-UP👍!! MAKE THIS GO VIRAL ON 𝕏. LET’S GO 👏

A senior Iranian official has reportedly told CNN that Iran is considering allowing a limited number of oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, but only on the condition that the oil cargo is traded (i.e., paid for or settled) in Chinese yuan (RMB) rather than the dominant U.S. dollar. This is one of the most profound statements of this conflict clearly identifying the US/China root conflict over reserve currency at the heart of this war.

Let me offer discussion points on why they decided to bomb Kharg Island. The administration and military planners likely concluded that it would take weeks, if not months, to secure the Strait of Hormuz. During that time, oil prices could rise to levels that would suffocate the global economy. This was unacceptable. They are desperate for immediate action. So, they needed a bold, decisive move to force Iran to relent quickly. Trump was clear. They bombed Iranian military structures on Kharg but left the oil infrastructure unharmed (assuming this is accurate). Recognizing that this could freak out oil markets, they announced it on Friday evening to give markets 48 hours to digest the news. Trump also made it explicit that oil infrastructure would be next if Iran did not allow ships to pass freely through the Strait of Hormuz. In football terms, they're throwing a Hail Mary pass now, hoping it works. They don't have any more time on the clock. Oil markets and the world economy cannot wait weeks or months for the military to open the Strait. Further, I could envision political advisors suggesting that if oil prices are destined to hit $200 without this action, it might as well happen next week, giving six months to bring them down before the midterm elections. As I've argued in many other posts, Trump cannot simply declare victory and pull out (TACO). That would be worse. It would leave Iran in control of the world's economic jugular, allowing it to punish everyone by permanently holding oil at $200. So, they must force Iran to relent. Again, these are just the thoughts running through my head as I try to explain to myself why they took this step.
The White House@WhiteHouse

“Moments ago, at my direction, the United States Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East, and totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island... Iran has NO ability to defend anything that we want to attack — There is nothing they can do about it!" - President Donald J. Trump 🇺🇸
