There isn’t a single LTN in Libdem ward in Oxford. You are scared to lose votes. You have used @Oxford_Labour brough them in this coaltion of chaos and use their electoate as guinea pigs. LTNs are traffic relocation policy not traffic reduction policy.
Andrew Gant@AndrewGant3

Sunak and Starmer write themselves into history- leadership passes to the bold. Taking the kids to school doesn’t mean jumping in the car: better lives are more important. Politicians who articulate that will win. Uxbridge makes that more urgent, not less. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi…

Canterbury's "chop the city into zones and fine drivers from crossing between them" scheme is up for review. Can our Labour Party instist on a similar review in Oxford? The Tories are now against our traffic filters scheme. A vote in full council could see the plan ditched.

@DivRoadLTN This is a really inane argument. Nobody denies traffic was bad before. What many of us object to are schemes that make it worse.

🛣️ The coalition in #Oxfordshire bang on about the need for infrastructure with development then end up voting against a major infrastructure project. The government inspector is absolutely right to challenge this decision.

BREAKING: The government is to review the decision by Oxfordshire County Council's planning committee to reject plans for a £300 million road project around Didcot (HIF1) The government's planning inspectorate will now make the final decision on whether to approve the plans

@TheFly2012 @cycloxoxford @LoaderIan I’m a disabled BBH so driving is the freedom I think it is😯Did you read criteria for BBH?They include not being able to walk at all, not able to walk more than 50m, a child under 3 needing bulky medical equipment or emergency treatment. Why upholding BBH access is crucial🙄

@cycloxoxford @LoaderIan I'm quite surprised that this article has no mention of people with mobility disability issues, who frequently do have needs as drivers that can't be met by suggesting they walk or drive. I'd go as far as to call the article disablist. I suspect this wasn't intended, but is true

Why does Copenhagen invest so much in cycle infrastructure? They calculated every km. cycled produces a societal economic gain of DKK 4.79 (€0,64); every km. driven loses DKK 5.29 (€0,71). Society therefore saves DKK 10.08 (€1,35) per km. when people cycle rather than drive.

@alan_thawley @PeterBarnett @ReconnectingOx Your tweet said 'normalising the idea that nobody should need to stray from their local area'. You used the words need and stray. There are plenty of reasons people go further afield and there's nothing amiss with those reasons!

A balanced perspective by a Brookes academic on why the idea of 15min city would not work in Oxford. We have absolutely no amenities in where we live, and the council has committed a good part of 70 years to turn it from a cute village to a slum thecritic.co.uk/the-complacenc…

What happens when you significantly adjust (downwards) raw annual average NO2 pollution numbers, as part of the Air Quality Annual Status Report sign off? In the case of the Cowley LTN area in 2022, four roads - which raw numbers indicated breached legal limits - no longer do.

@ReconnectingOx Evidence - traffic congestion slows alternative transport like buses down, whatever the cause, and traffic congestion existed prior to the LTNs; so what are your solutions?

Problems are identified, and fixed, with reliable evidence. Problems are made worse with policies created in the absence of evidence, evidence that's questionable, or regulatory capture by lobbyists. We have all three of the latter in Oxford, so problems aren't actually fixed.
Cowley LTN’s #OneOX4@CowleyLtn

@yeaters2309 So true, private schools out and universities out and the traffic has massively improved. No one bothered to check the sources and causes of the traffic before implementing draconian measures that slow alternative transport like buses down.
