🎉 #DailyMajors Lights Off (August 21): Black Friday for Indian online poker as Online Gaming Bill becomes law. 💔 Read more 👇🏻
English

This Week in Poker | August 14 – 20 | 2025
This edition of This Week in Poker may be our last—and what should have been a routine roundup instead became the story of an industry’s collapse.
The second week of August ended with the industry anxiously awaiting the Supreme Court’s verdict in the #Gameskraft cases—but instead of clarity, came chaos. In a stunning legislative blitz, the Union Cabinet cleared the ‘Promotion & Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025,’ which was rushed through Parliament in under 48 hours. With both Houses approving a nationwide ban on all real-money online games, India’s poker ecosystem was dealt a crushing blow. On Friday, August 22—what will be remembered as the game’s ‘Black Friday’—all major poker platforms shut down real-money operations.
Even as the domestic scene fell silent, Indian players continued to shine abroad. In Cyprus, high-stakes grinder Rahul Byrraju delivered the run of his life—6th in the #OnyxSuperHighRollerSeries $25,750 #MainEvent for $250,000 (₹2.19 Crores), followed immediately by an 8th-place finish in the $102,000 NLH Invitational for $400,000 (₹3.48 Crores). His tally: a staggering ₹5.66 Crores in just one week.
At @PokerDream_Live 18 Malaysia, Team India scored big across 86 events with 31 cashes, 12 final tables, and two trophies.
➡Jayraj Vasudevbhai Ninama headlined the series, finishing runner-up in the RM5 Million GTD Main Event for RM514,065 (₹1.06 Crores) and adding a 4th-place finish in the RM15K PLO for a total of ₹1.11 Crores.
➡Akshay Nasa ~ @aksherlock52 notched his best live score of 2025 with a 3rd-place finish in the Main Event, banking RM361,600 (₹74.66 Lakhs).
➡Nishant Sharma, a three-time #PokerDream champion, made a deep run for 6th in the Main Event, pocketing RM209,500 (₹43.26 Lakhs) and pushing his lifetime earnings past ₹14.31 Crores.
➡Rajeev Kanjani clinched Event #41: RM3,000 #MysteryBounty for RM140,300 (~₹29 Lakhs) along with an 11th-place finish in the Monster Stack, collecting over ₹31 Lakhs in the series.
➡Abhishek Bhattacharjee took down Event #67: RM1,000 #MysteryBounty – Turbo for RM10,600 (~₹2.19 Lakhs), claiming his first Poker Dream title.
On the online front, despite looming uncertainty, Anant PS ~ @anantp85 reminded everyone why he’s the 2025 POY frontrunner. He clinched his first TCOC trophy by shipping @PokerBaazi Circuit#42 (6-Max) #Monster for ₹11.03 Lakhs, then dominated @Natural8India with a blistering three-day run that added another ₹26.33 Lakhs. His weekly haul of ₹37.36 Lakhs pushed his year’s earnings to a jaw-dropping ₹7.45 Crores. Other notables—Lakhan Nagajan Odedra, Kasim Shabbir Vadiwala, Uppala Sai Raghu, Ronak Chaudhary, Pronab Paul, Ishaan Pandya, and Arjanveer Singh Chadha—also made strong finishes.
With that, we close the books on what may be our final weekly recap. The future of poker in India is uncertain, and we don't know when or if we'll be back with another roundup. To all the players, operators, and members of this community whose livelihoods are now at risk, we stand with you.

🎙 #PokerGuruBlog: Regulate, Don’t Ban — a citizen’s appeal by our in-house streamer & dreamer, Naman Sharma!
🗣 “I am a citizen. I pay taxes. And today, I feel erased.”
Naman writes as an Indian tax-paying citizen whose work vanished overnight. If the goal is a healthier society, bans don’t fix it—smart regulation does. Here’s his plan:
🛡 License everything, then enforce it
• Operating licences for platforms that meet strict standards
• Player gaming licences to track activity, protect consumers, and improve compliance & tax yields
📉 Lower, predictable taxes: Compete globally, pull activity onshore, grow a sustainable RMG economy
💳 Stake limits that fit a player’s means
• Platform-level limits tied to bankroll & financial data
• Monthly reports to the regulator for oversight and intervention
🧠 Mandatory learning & counselling: In-product education, helplines, and regular counselling, so responsible play is the default
🎟 Freerolls for inclusion: Real on-ramps for the unemployed and underserved—no financial risk
🌱 Quarterly social-uplift drives :Every licensed platform funds one rural employment campaign per quarter—train, hire, and support beyond metros
💼 Jobs—at scale: With this framework, the sector can create up to 10 Million jobs across ops, content, tech, compliance, support, and local ecosystems
Why this matters: Bans push activity underground, kill transparent jobs, and punish compliant citizens. Regulation protects, taxes, educates, and grows. The most successful countries regulate both skill and chance with strict, fair rules and let adults make informed choices.
Naman’s ask: Bring government and industry to one table. Draft tough but fair laws that protect players, punish bad actors, grow formal jobs, and make India the benchmark for safe, responsible, thriving online gaming. Regulate—don’t ban.
Add your voice, tag policymakers, and stand up for choice, dignity, and smart regulation.

Online poker in India has been pushed to the wall. With the Modi government refusing to recognise skill gaming and folding poker into “gambling,” platforms issued late-night advisories and began powering down by Friday morning. Even on that final evening, @PokerBaazi did what it always does—kept the lights on as long as it could, running all events that started before 9 PM. 🥹
One of the last big stories came from the ₹14 Lakhs GTD #TheSummitLite, and it belonged to Abhinav Malhotra. After seven quiet months, Malhotra reappeared in July by taking down #TheEndeavour and stayed hot. He cut through 478 entrants over seven and a half hours to collect ₹3,38,070. 🏁 Then, barely two hours later, he took a deep breath and nearly bagged the headlining #TheSummit, finishing runner-up for ₹6.91 Lakhs. 🥈💪🏻 Add a small daytime cash in the (7-Max) #AfternoonBoost, and his tally for the night touched ₹10.36 Lakhs—a powerful statement on a night when the future of Indian online poker was being erased. 🔥
✔️2nd in #PokerBaazi’s #TheSummit for ₹6,90,780
✔️1st in #PokerBaazi’s #TheSummitLite for ₹3,38,070
✔️38th in #PokerBaazi’s (7-Max) #AfternoonBoost for ₹6,706
Abhinav Malhotra's #PokerBaazi stats: Site Winnings: ₹71.70 Lakhs | Lifetime Profits: ₹20.36 Lakhs | Titles Won in 2025: #2 🤘🏻
Saahib Bawa kept his name front and centre again. Since #NPSIndia2025, he has been tough to miss—runner-up in last month’s EPIC #MiniMainEvent in Goa and a title in #Adda52’s #Inception earlier in August. He pressed for the win here as well and signed off as runner-up for ₹2.24 Lakhs. 🥈👐🏻
#TheSummitLite final table had several familiar faces. Dayanand Prass claimed third place for ₹1.65 Lakhs. 🥉 Ankit Mathani placed seventh for ₹67,077. Manash Kalita (@I_am_MKalita) took eighth for ₹48,966, closing personal scores before final balances were settled and lobbies went dark. 👋🏻

Black Friday. 🏴 That is the only way to describe today in India's real-money gaming ecosystem. Most major platforms were powered down after what sources described as a stern government advisory. 😕 Two days after both Houses cleared the Promotion & Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, 🏛️ the industry waits only on Presidential assent and a Gazette notification to become law. The phrasing sounds routine. The effect is not. A sector built by scrappy teams and scaled into mainstream platforms—product managers, engineers, designers, marketers, sales desks, compliance crews, payments ops, and round-the-clock support—was told to cut the lights. 🥹
The move has been sold as a social shield against "gambling." In practice, it sweeps in all real-money online games, whether driven by skill or chance. This is not a policy memo for the people who kept the engines running—devs pushing hotfixes at 3 AM, analysts tuning game economies, VIP agents answering during festivals. It reads like a layoff notice in an economy already fighting for jobs. BLACK FRIDAY is not hyperbole. It is today's HEADLINE. 📰
@PokerBaazi chose a measured exit. Before suspending operations at 9 PM, the platform let every running event play out. That created space for one final ₹50 Lakhs GTD #TheSummit, the long-running Thursday headliner with an ₹8,250 buy-in. The field listed 428 unique entries. Play stretched for ten hours and three minutes, a long session that felt less like a sprint to a finish line and more like a vigil for a scene closing its doors. 🚪
Seshadri Iyer wrote his name at the top. The NPS#5 #Megadive Gold winner from last year fired twice and found the run on his next try, banking ₹8 Lakhs. It stands as his biggest score of 2025 and the second-largest of his career after that NPS Gold for a decent recovery of past losses. 🏆🤩 In an environment where many players were logging one final session before balances were settled and lobbies went dark, Iyer's finish reads like a neat, unhurried full stop. 🫷🏻
Seshadri Iyer's online stats (#PokerBaazi and #SpartanPoker): Lifetime Winnings: ₹79.25 Lakhs | Titles Won in 2025: #1
The night's heaviest line item belonged to Abhinav Malhotra. Runner-up in #TheSummit for ₹6.91 Lakhs, and the path tells the story of how Indian grinders built edges from the smallest rungs. 🥈🫶🏻 He qualified through two satellites for a total outlay of ₹1,380, then fired two direct bullets, and still booked roughly a 501x return. He kept going. A title in #TheSummitLite added ₹3.38 Lakhs, and an earlier cash in the (7-Max) #AfternoonBoost (38th for ₹6,706) pushed his Thursday tally to almost ₹10.36 Lakhs. 🌪️ On what was, for all practical purposes, the final full day of online poker in India, Malhotra closed as the top earner. 🔥
Abhinav Malhotra's #PokerBaazi stats: Site Winnings: ₹71.70 Lakhs | Site Profits: ₹20.36 Lakhs | Titles Won in 2025: #2 🤘🏻
Coming off a #GrindHouse podium in June, Jay Maru took third for ₹4.40 Lakhs. 🥉 The final table around him read like a cross-section of the regulars who have populated weekday headliners for years. Circuit#10 #Monsterstack winner Gautam Rohilla (@gautam_cr7) placed fifth for ₹2.75 Lakhs. Sunday's #TheSundowner runner-up, Anish Arora, came sixth for ₹2.14 Lakhs. Circuit#48 #Deepstack finalist Neeraj Sattawat (@neerajsattawat) finished seventh for ₹1.58 Lakhs. Circuit#43 #PLO5HighRoller finalist Navaneeth Krishna PK completed the list in eighth for ₹1.19 Lakhs. 👀

#Natural8IndiaWinnersUpdate
🕯 The Last Lights Out
Friday brought with it the cruellest kind of silence—@Natural8India has gone dark. With the 'Promotion & Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025,' clearing both Houses and just one final signature pending, the poker dream has ended for lakhs of Indians. There are no carve-outs, no exemptions, just an abrupt full stop for a community that built a multi-crore industry on resilience, skill, and sheer grind. One government advisory, and it all fell like dominoes. 💔
No headlines can capture what this really means: entire careers snapped shut, teams disbanded, platforms pulled from under working professionals. And through all this chaos, one grinder gave us a final reason to clap.
🗡 Snehil Aggarwal Bags One Final Payday Before the Curtain Drops! Aggarwal might’ve logged into #Natural India for what now looks like the final time—but the man didn’t log out quietly. Just a week after placing 3rd in the #SpeedRacerBountyEurope108, Aggarwal returned Thursday with unfinished business and carved out a 2nd-place finish, topping all but one in the 133-runner crowd and pocketing ₹2.22 Lakhs!
📊 And that’s just the tip of what he’s stacked in 2025. His online tear has brought him ₹2.01 Crores this year alone—₹61.18 Lakhs of which came from just 11 #Natural8India scores since May. Back in May, he crushed the #ZodiacAsiaChampionship for ₹32.59 Lakhs, a breakout that set the tone for what should’ve been a banner season. There’s no sugarcoating it: the shutdown has stopped a heater that deserved a long, glorious arc.
And that, really, is the heartbreak. For every Snehil, hundreds are chasing their own big run, now left with balance withdrawals and limited options. This was our last #Natural8India winners post. We don’t know if there will be another. But if this is the end, Snehil went out like a champion! 🙌🏻

🎉 #DailyMajors (August 20) 🎉
🏛 Even with the industry staring at a shutdown, @PokerBaazi’s weekday grind didn’t miss a beat. With the Online Gaming Bill passing both Houses, the game may not last long—but for now, the midweek action kept players locked in. A trimmed lineup, early starts, and prize pools bumped across the board, meaning the energy never dipped. And if this was one of the last big grinds, it went out swinging!
🏆 Meghalaya’s ‘phoenix7a’ crushed #PokerBaazi’s #ThePride, pocketing a career-best ₹6.37 Lakhs—leapfrogging their previous top score from a December runner-up finish in #TheBigShow. They cashed in three more events to round off a monster session worth ₹6.68 Lakhs. Arsh Grover ~ @BigggTymeR fell just shy of the top spot, but ₹3.97 Lakhs for 2nd added yet another big line to this #YoungGun`s resume—his 7th FT since May!
🏁 The late shift belonged to Mayank Maruka ~ @marukamayank. The Jodhpur ace shipped #PokerBaazi’s #DailyLastChance for the sixth time, collecting ₹3.68 Lakhs. Toss in 2 other scores during the session, and his nightly take hit ₹3.86 Lakhs. ‘LizDoesBiz’ also made a splash with ₹2.40 Lakhs in 2nd place—over 4x their previous best!
🎯 #ThePrideLite saw ‘jumboTopPair253’ return to the top after an 8-month gap. Their second win in this flagship and a site-best ₹2.14 Lakhs followed a heads-up deal. Runner-up Arbaaz Ahmed ~ @arbaazahmed0123 got the bigger payout—₹2.25 Lakhs—bringing him across ₹1 Crore in tracked profits this year. The 2023 #EndBoss runner-up now has 11 FTs and a 50% ROI!
🔝 Other Winners
→ Ashwin Vijayvergiya – @Spartan_Poker #Destiny – ₹2.25L
→ Swapnil Sawant – #PokerBaazi (7-Max) #AfternoonBoost – ₹1.16L
→ Mohak Kapoor ~ @mohakkapoor – #PokerBaazi #SPRINT – ₹63,800
→ Mohit Sehra – #PokerBaazi #DailyMorningSPRINT – ₹38,420
→ Animesh Sehgal – #SpartanPoker #DailyMonsterstack – ₹25,680
→ Rajat Jain – #PokerBaazi #Boost – ₹10,170

India’s real-money gaming ecosystem is staring at the cliff edge. The 'Promotion & Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025' raced through the Lok Sabha on Wednesday and cleared the Rajya Sabha today, with only Presidential assent left. The draft outlaws all real-money formats without separating skill from chance, sweeping in poker, rummy, and fantasy. A sector pegged above ₹2 Lakh Crores, with tens of thousands of jobs and millions of users, now faces collapse. The ripple effects were immediate—tournaments axed, advisories issued, and a sense of freefall across investors, partners, and employees. 💔
Even so, @PokerBaazi midweek run kept its rhythm for what may be a final stretch. After Tuesday’s outsized turnout, Wednesday’s trimmed slate still drew a surge. The platform had moved its weekday grind 30 minutes earlier and boosted prize pools in the majors and their Lite editions. If these were the last laps, the flagships #ThePride, #ThePrideLite, and the late-night #DailyLastChance did more than hold form. 🧨
From Maharashtra, ‘jumboTopPair253’ turned the ₹12.50 Lakhs GTD #ThePrideLite into a clinic. 524 unique entrants grew the tally to 1,011,🤝 and the 7 PM flagship ran for 7.5 hours. Already a November champion in this very event, the grinder came in with unfinished business and finished the job. A heads-up deal locked a personal-best ₹2,14,408, the second #ThePrideLite crown, and title #2 of 2025. Biggest platform score to date, banked on a night when the community needed a lift. 😇✊🏻
The last duel featured Bengaluru’s Arbaaz Ahmed (@arbaazahmed0123), a name stitched into the scene. #EndBoss 2023 runner-up, #TheMoneyMaker 12.0 champion from May 31, a satellite ace with a habit of turning seats into scores. Eleven final tables with seven podiums this year, NPS#139 #Knockout Silver, and NPS#78 #Megadive Bronze Medals tell their own story. Ahmed fired four entries, reached the finish, and the deal 🤝 paid him the bigger number—₹2,24,597. 🥈🫰🏻 That haul pushed him past ₹1 Crore in tracked online profits with a stunning 50% ROI. 💪🏻
Arbaaz Ahmed’s online stats (excluding #Natural8India and #JungleePoker): Lifetime Winnings: ₹2.09 Crores | Lifetime Profits: ₹1.05 Crores | Titles Won in 2025: #1 👌🏻
#ThePrideLite final table was nothing short of lethal—a lineup of stone-cold crushers. Site loyalist ‘RampageR1’ battled to third for ₹1,29,916, 🥉 Tuesday’s #TheEndeavourLite champ Jaikishan Jangid kept his heater alive in fourth for ₹98,510, while last month’s EPIC #18 #MysteryBounty slayer Inzemaam Husain fought his way to sixth for ₹60,340. 🦈

India’s real-money gaming scene is hanging by a thread. With both Houses passing the Promotion & Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, only Presidential assent remains before the lights go out. 😕 Even so, @PokerBaazi gave players a full-blooded midweek grind—trimmed schedule, high intent, and a primetime closer that felt like a rallying cry.
The ₹15 Lakhs GTD #DailyLastChance kicked off at the usual 10 PM and drew a bustling 1,130 entries from 560 players. After an 8.5-hour marathon that wrapped early Thursday, Mayank Maruka (@marukamayank) stood tall, turning two bullets into a headline. 🏁😏
📊 Maruka’s 2025 graph has been all about work rate and follow-through. Since taking down #Blockbuster on #PokerBaazi in May, he’s kept the tempo high—adding a #SatMonsterstack win on #SpartanPoker and a runner-up in #TheMint on #Adda52 earlier this month.
August had been steady; Wednesday gave it teeth. He closed the #DailyLastChance for the sixth time, good for ₹3,68,167. 🙌🏻 The session was already in the green before that: 59th in #ThePride for ₹12,765 and 20th in #SpartanPoker’s #WedMonsterstack for ₹4,635. By the time the lobby dimmed, his single-day take sat just under ₹3.86 Lakhs. 💪🏻
Mayank Maruka's online stats (excluding #Natural8India and #JungleePoker): Lifetime Winnings: ₹8.73 Crores | Lifetime Profits: ₹2.30 Crores | Titles Won in 2025: #10 ✊🏻
‘LizDoesBiz’ pressed deep in #DailyLastChance and banked a breakthrough of their own—runner-up for ₹2.40 Lakhs, a site-best payout more than 4x their previous peak and a clean jump for the ledger at a time when every rupee of ROI counts. 🥈🤑
LizDoesBiz’s #PokerBaazi stats: Site Winnings: ₹26.24 Lakhs | Site Profits: ₹2.54 Lakhs | Titles Won in 2025: #1 👐🏻
The final table had plenty of familiar heat. Ritik Jaiswal—winner of last week’s Circuit#36 (5-Max) #Hyper—placed fourth for ₹1.35 Lakhs. Shakti Singh took sixth for ₹84,260, and Mangu Bansal (@Mangubansal), still riding TCOC momentum, finished eighth for ₹45,690. 👀

🚨 Real-Money Gaming Ban Inches Closer! 🚨
In a blitz move, the Rajya Sabha has cleared the #OnlineGamingBill, paving the way for a full ban on poker, rummy, and fantasy sports, 🏛️ just the President`s signature away from law. 💔 Legal fight incoming! #dontkillskill
English

In a week where the air around online poker has turned heavy with dread, players across the country logged in knowing the clock was ticking. On Wednesday, the Rajya Sabha cleared the Promotion & Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025—just a day after the Lok Sabha nodded it through in record time. 🏛️ With only the President's signature left, real-money online gaming in India faces an imminent total shutdown. 😲
But the grind carried on for those who've called the virtual felts home. @PokerBaazi 's Wednesday lineup stayed intact—barely—with trimmed offerings but undiminished spirit. And at the heart of it all stood #ThePride, one of the platform's most loved mid-week staples. If this was to be its final run, it didn't go quietly. 💣
The ₹35 Lakhs GTD #ThePride drew a charged crowd—851 entries from 430 unique runners, pushing the prize pool to ₹42.55 Lakhs. Under nine and a half hours later, Meghalaya's 'phoenix7a' clinched a personal-best ₹6,37,500, turning two bullets into a defining victory. It was a breakout score that dwarfed their previous peak over 1.5 times—a runner-up finish in #TheBigShow last December. 🏆🤩
Active on #PokerBaazi since January 2022, 'phoenix7a' has been a quiet regular, with a few notable moments: a win in the #DailyLastChance last October, and a WPT#70 #PLO4 takedown in December. But since then, the trail had gone cold—until now. Wednesday changed that. Alongside the #ThePride win, they deep ran three more events: a 13th-place finish in #ThePrideLite (₹14,073), a 31st-place showing in the (7-Max) #AfternoonBoost (₹8,195), and a final table appearance in the #DailyMorningSPRINT (7th for ₹8,116). In all, they racked up nearly ₹6.68 Lakhs in a single night—a dream scoreboard on a night most were preparing for the worst that wiped their slate clean of all past losses. 🔥
phoenix7a's #PokerBaazi stats: Site Winnings: ₹28.41 | Site Profits: ₹5.22 Lakhs | Titles Won in 2025: #2 🫶🏻
Right behind them was a name that's long been in every POY conversation. #YoungGun Arsh Grover (@BigggTymeR), one of India's most consistent crushers, came within reach of a long-awaited title and bagged ₹3,97,843 for second place. 🥈🎗️This finish almost ended a three-month wait for an outright win, with his last recorded title being #SpartanPoker's #Supreme in May. Since then, Grover has notched six final tables, but the top spot has stayed out of reach. With online poker's future hanging in the balance, Grover's deep run was a reminder of how high the standard has remained, even on uncertain ground. 🙌🏻
Arsh Grover's online stats (#Natural8India and #JungleePoker): Lifetime Winnings: ₹19.96 Crores | Lifetime Profits: ₹8.05 Crores | Titles Won in 2025: #2 😮
Another standout in the final lineup was Rajasthan's 'Ragnarlodbrok,' who locked in a site-best ₹3.14 Lakhs for third place. It took four attempts, but the payoff was worth it. 🥉🤑
#ThePride's final table read like a who's who of regular grinders, all chasing one last big score before the ban comes into effect. Monday's #TheMint finalist Lakshya Dawra grabbed fourth for ₹2.43 Lakhs, while Himanshu Chhikara took fifth for ₹1,96,156. Praneet Prakash finished sixth for ₹1,52,755, and Mayank Taluja rounded out the notable finishes in seventh place with ₹1,14,885. 👏🏻
