@rnaguru @SolidEvidence Ingestion is def. the most straightforward explanation for high PMMoV in wastewater but I’ve always thought there must me some unknown interaction with gut microbes too. It’s so ubiquitous

@SolidEvidence Nice. Apparently Tabasco uses 10% vinegar (acetic acid). Maybe that helps to preserve/coagulate RNA. Wouldn't be too sure about saying that the wastewater signal is mainly from hot sauces. What about paprika-containing foods, especially salamis, pepperoni, etc?

Drumroll..... We have a clear winner! The ct for Tabasco was 15! Maybe that's what makes it taste so good. Anyway, I think we may know where all of the virus in wastewater is coming from.

@PoopScience Thank goodness. CrAssphage was a terrible name. Knowing the genesis of the name just makes people doubt whether it actually exists as a virion.
