5 minutes before the President announced a halt to attacks on Iran… someone placed a $1.5 BILLION bet on stocks going up and dumped $192 million in oil.
5 minutes…
These trades were 4 to 6 times larger than anything else in the entire market. Whoever did this wasn’t guessing. You don’t risk $1.5 billion on a hunch.
There was zero public indication this announcement was coming. No leaks. No press. Nothing. The only people who knew were in the room when the decision was made.
Someone in that room picked up a phone.
And within minutes they made more money than most Americans will earn in a thousand lifetimes. In a single trade. On a war that cost you $4+ a gallon gas and $16 billion in tax dollars.
American citizens funded this war. Politicians are profiting from it.
This is not the first time. Every major announcement from this administration has had massive suspicious trades right before it dropped. Tariff reversals. Policy shifts. War decisions.
This is the most blatant insider trading operation in the history of American politics. It’s not even close. And it’s happening over and over in broad daylight.
You would go to federal prison for trading on a tip from your cousin. These people are front running war decisions with billion dollar bets and nobody will ever ask a single question.
Nobody will be investigated. Nobody will be charged. By tomorrow this will be buried under the next satisfying headline. Just like last time. And the time before that.
The game is rigged. And they’re not even trying to hide it anymore…

In one move, $1.5 billion in S&P 500 (ES) futures was bought while $192 million in oil (CL) futures was sold. These orders were 4–6x larger than anything else at the time. @CarmichaelDave I’m probably the outlier here; but, cosmically, I’d prefer to see “strategic tanking” rewarded before “outright and utter incompetence”. I don’t fault teams for playing the game as the rules allow. Failure of the league to not disincentivizing this enough.

What ethics? Putting together the most nonsensical & unmovable roster of all time is “ethics” now? Kings with just under 50% chance to end up with pick outside of top4 (in a draft where the first tier is 3-4 players) I’ve paid attention long enough to know how this plays out

At this point I’ve resigned myself to letting the Lottery Gods take control. Hopefully the universe rewards the ethics. The top 3 players in the league are two guys outside the top 10, and one picked during a Taco Bell commercial in the 2nd round. Having the worst record gives you a 15% chance at the top pick, and having the top pick is no guarantee you got the best player. Yes I’m aware the lower you go the lower you drop your draft floor. Yes I’m aware I’m at the table right now with a heaping pile of Copium Flakes. But what else can you do? Let the universe decide, because at some point we gotta be due for something good, don’t we? I’ll just trust that whatever happens, is exactly what’s supposed to happen. A great philosopher once said, “Some of God’s greatest gifts, are Unanswered Prayers.” So…..yeah.

I think the Kings should try something resembling “smart basketball decisions” rather than incompetence-maxing and hoping for pity from ever evasive “basketball gods”. Hope is not a strategy.

The answer is effectively never but adjusted for inflation, there are comparable examples in the 90s and 80s.
My point: a great number of people have seen these movies, more than usual, and the fan bases are fervent. I’m curious if that translates to more audience for the show.

When was the last time the two films in a legitimate race for Best Picture both earned more than $200 million at the box office before nominations were announced? 2011 with THE SOCIAL NETWORK and THE KING’S SPEECH? I’m not sure if the latter crossed that threshold ahead of time.
