I know the sex of absolutely everyone I speak with daily. This nonsense that sex is ineffable or unknowable should be rejected very clearly. I certainly know my sex and I am able to make a very good guess at this gentleman’s sex on his words and posturing alone.
Jenna Taylor 🏳️‍⚧️@JennaFights4You

You dont know the sex of a single person you speak to daily. You presume their sex based on their phenotypic traits. Based on that, why is it impossible for you to politely use someone's preferred pronouns in the workplace? I know the real answer but for funsies I wanna see what you run with.

@PronouncedHare A claim that was retracted in 2010! The rest of the IPCC’s fourth assessment report where that claim came from is accurate, if anything being too conservative in some areas.

@PronouncedHare Such as? The article you’re making fun of had projections based on if governments would do nothing, but they did! Furthermore this article was about how carbon in the air would lock in changes, rather than instantly cause them.

@ProfBadPerson I am a climate fatalist in part because climate change enthusiasts continually made predictions that did not come to pass, greatly undermining their public credibility.

@ProfBadPerson @s1halfdone That’s certainly a good politicians answer. It’s not really a good government answer though. That answer is: given the various challenges we had and the limited resources we had to meet them, did we allocate funds as wisely as we could at the time we were on control.

@PronouncedHare That’s very funny Liam. Are you a climate change denier now? The article was about how we would reach a point where we would lock in warming that would cause a large amount of damage. You’re being deliberately obtuse.

@PronouncedHare I'm just wondering myself, what's worse for the environment, a massive spill of sewage into the ocean or a dozen people biking to work in Wellington?

@vanillaopinions Salience, schmalience. Cost us the Senate. It was a key issue in judging Dems brand and beliefs. Someone pushing males into womenls bathrooms and sports and mutilating kids has lost all contact with the real world. Dems need to do what Labour did and get back to the center.

very grim polling. it helps no one to bury your head in the sand on this and ignore that specific trans rights issues are deeply unpopular with the american public
Lakshya Jain@lxeagle17

The trans rights backlash is extremely real and very worrying for progressives. The public is aligned with conservatives on several issues like sports, restrooms, and minors' access to care. It's possibly the worst issue for progressives I've ever polled. theargumentmag.com/p/the-trans-ri…

Tonight, my thoughts are with the victims of the devastating shooting in Canada, as well of course as their loved ones. I send my condolences to the Tumbler Ridge community in their hour of terrible grief.

really incredible how many responses to this are 'don't gaslight me, I saw tons of posts about this during that time'. yes, you did. that is the point that the tweet is making. that is what it is saying. you are agreeing with it.

You think "obesity isn't bad for you" was mainstream because your media diet consists of ragebait aggregators who find fringe views and present them as mainstream. The evidence-based consensus is still that obesity carries health risks like heart disease and type II diabetes.

@itsZ4ya @brownliberite I don't even understand why neoliberal social liberals that make up the *modern* Labour Right felt the need to join Labour in the first place. They could've avoided the factional infighting by joining Lib Dems and try to win seats and power through them.

@PronouncedHare @Noahpinion Sorry but I can’t find it in me to get mad at a 2022 report about how we should accommodate non-white people in the countryside more. I’d be more concerned that people like JLo are cheering you on.

No, what’s lame is pretending that was is proposed just “more people visiting parks” when the actual framing is *explicitly* demographic and cultural. If Defra said “let’s improve transport info, signage and awareness so anyone can enjoy these places”, great. That’s normal public access work. But the language here isn’t neutral. It’s expressly about changing the presentation and norms of rural life to achieve a desired demographic outcome, which should be something of a line.

Rightists want to tell you that your friends and neighbors are "replacing" you. They want you to turn against your friends and neighbors, to make you afraid of them, to provoke you into trying to drive them out of the country. It's sickening.

@ProfBadPerson @Noahpinion That’s a good outcome and if it’s just about “how do we make more people aware of national parks and how to get there, especially those who haven’t been before” that’s great. Less great is: “Therefore, we need to re-engineer the demographic and cultural profile of those places”.

@thebistorian @splitmaude Those two conditions are more clear cut than others. Androgen insensitivity, 5-ARD and ovotesticular DSDs are more arbitrary ones. The first especially since there’s a magical line where one is considered male or female, despite having testes and an SRY gene in all cases.
