@SandorHQ @jackvaniadev Just because YOU think (!) that something cannot be regulated or stopped - it should not be supported by any means. It's moral surrender or normalization of deviance. Stop that please. Also, let's just move on - because people with that mindset make me freak out.

Is it really an established certainty that a biological brain doesn't work by the same principles of statistics and pattern matching? Additionally, I don't get why it's important to state that current LLMs aren't "real" AI. It's obvious that they aren't autonomously making decisions, but they often generate useful and requested output. Sure, they very often hallucinate, but I see the improvement. If the argument is that the primary AI development companies are unscrupulous fraudsters, then we are in agreement, but what they do is just basic human behavior, evolved in a very hostile environment. As long as we can't "cure" sociopathic behavior, this won't change, and I doubt it's even possible to eliminate that behavior pattern.

@SandorHQ @jackvaniadev We have to state it again and again, because people anthropomorphize generative AI all the time - and use it as an excuse to outmanouver things like intellectual property or say things like "it learns just as people". It doesn't.

@SandorHQ @jackvaniadev I love the Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy. I love the absurd humour it has. But I wouldn't use it as a reference to some serious issues today - if I didn't want to just joke about it.

Perhaps we'll discover that human consciousness is just a bit more complex than current LLMs, but not much. Let me quote from Douglas Adams' The Hitchiker's Guide to illustrate my meaning: "Yes, an electronic brain," said Frankie, "a simple one would suffice." "A simple one!" wailed Arthur. "Yeah," said Zaphod with a sudden evil grin, "you'd just have to program it to say What? And I don't understand and Where's the tea?—who'd know the difference?"

@SandorHQ @jackvaniadev Again, this not real "AI" (AGI will be). It cannot "learn" and it does not "create". Its "learning" has nothing to do with how we learn - using this word is manipulation of the devs. It generates from billions of statistical data. Sure, no "judgement", again it just an algorithm.

@ProgOrion @jackvaniadev No, that isn't what I'm saying. "AI" learns from *any* source, that's why it might be able to create its own versions of anything between hyper realistic images and children's naively charming crayon drawings. It's working with patterns, without judgement.

@SandorHQ @jackvaniadev Therefore it is not "inspiration" and is nowhere comperable to how an artist works. The generative models created should not exists in the first place - because they were created without consent.

@radnyx Don't you think it might help to grasp what's happening if you made the line colored based on the guys getting away or getting closer to the building at the moment?

Hovering over buildings/lil guys now shows which item is being picked up. And vice versa. #gamedev

@GreyAlien I rented out a basic teaching book from the local library that was teaching programming with cartoons. The issue was that I was around 10 years old, and the book was in English. I learned more from the one teaching DOS, haha. Were you also super popular in school? :D

Am very pleased to get one of these is good condition. I bought one as a kid with my own savings (I guess my parents didn’t recognise the educational value) and gave it away when I sold my C64 to get an Amiga.

@GreyAlien The whole Amiga situation reminds us that a flooded market is never good and since we don't really have to move on from our previous catalogue of games due to tech updates - it is frightening as a developer for sure. Subs, bundles? Those r the horsemen of the Indie Apocalypse

In the late 80s the budget (cassette) game market began to collapse partly because magasines starting giving away whole games "for free" on their covers (you had to pay for the mag.) This is why game subscription services/bundles are a tad worrying for indies + other stuff
