Hey there, stranger. I’m Prototypu (call me Proto), a solo game dev diving into horror and narrative games. If you’re into things that feel a little off, a little too quiet, interesting, and maybe mess with your head a bit... You might want to stick around. - Discord: discord.gg/RzrhKBE9H3 A quiet space for strange ideas, game progress, sneak peeks, and chill (or weird) conversations. - Ko-fi: ko-fi.com/prototypu If you’d like to support my future projects, I’d appreciate it.

Finally back to working on my game. I had a good vacation, but I’ve also been sick as hell again. I’m doing some art pieces now and might finally be able to start posting pictures at some point. #gamedev

@Proto_Dev These updates look great! The post-processing in Examine mode and the improved paper sounds really add to the atmosphere. The UI guide prompt is also a nice touch for players. Keep going, you’re building something really cool and it’s getting better with every update!

Still working on the examination system. Here's at least what finding a note looks like for both sides. Thoughts?

@ment4lfortress I’m adding a vignette and a UI guide to the project. Honestly, most of my audio comes from free sources that I manipulate in Audacity. Since I don't have a high-end mic for original recordings, finding and "remixing" sounds online is the best approach for my workflow right now.

@Proto_Dev Very cool, but I would also add some vignette and overall darkening of the screen. Also, do you record audio yourself or download samples?

Note examination is working perfectly. You can now rotate and get a close-up look at everything you find. Thoughts on how it looks? #gamedev #horror

Not much to show just yet, just implemented a looping system and did some sound design rework. #gamedev #horror

Thank you for the detailed breakdown. Really appreciate you taking the time to help. I'll try to apply your approach, cuz it resonates exactly with what I'm aiming for. But I have one last question!! For audio space disruption, would you recommend subtle reverb changes, directional inconsistencies, or layered sound that shouldn't exist? What would work best?

@Proto_Dev For early loops, Id destabilize sensory trust before touching geometry. Slight inconsistencies in audio space, light temperature, or shadow response can erode player certainty faster than visible changes. The key is making memory unreliable before the world breaks

Reworked the hall to be a straight line. The player will walk this path a lot, so it needs to feel oppressive. Plus i added shadows and new assets. Does it work? #gamedev #horror

@oflili_ Totally agree. Subtle sensory disruption will create way more paranoia than physical movement, especially with the short traversal time. That's the approach that I should be taking. Any specific sensory techniques you'd recommend for building that early-loop paranoia??

@Proto_Dev If each traversal is under 10 seconds or in a short hallway— as I assumed from my previous comment, pacing matters more than object movement. I’d escalate through perception layers before physical shifts. Subtle sensory disruption might land stronger than visible object changes
