Today June 19, 2026 in Ottawa Canada the high today reached 20 C. The record is from 1919 which is 35.6 C. Man made global warming is the biggest scam in history.

.@grok did Brookfield have to pay an exit tax to move its HQ to the USA when Carney signed off on the move as Chair, and then lied about it? Or, maybe the offshore office above the bicycle shop in Bermuda helped? ......Or, is it just regular people that to pay it?

The problem with the welfare state and its confiscatory taxation system is that there are ZERO repercussions if politicians steal your money "legally" and squander it accordingly. Any system that decouples the natural link between causes and effects will lead to disaster. This is why what starts off as a small temporary levying of taxes more than 100 years ago becomes the tax code that we see today. Politicians do not view an individual's hard-earned money as theirs to keep. Rather they view your money as something that they allow you to keep a small portion of. Accordingly, you should be "thankful" that the government allows you to keep any of your money. This "proves" that they are kind and empathetic. It is a complete moral inversion of personal agency, liberty, and freedom. No system should take so much taxes from you that it forces you to work 10 extra years to make up for what was taken from you.

@SchneiderMjr @GadSaad You definitely don't get it and likely will never. If you are calling him rich then you are very, very much the opposite. Hell even if Gad had $500M he would be poor relative to real rich (wealthy) people. You have been indoctrinated to be a poor victim AND have accepted it.

@GadSaad Sad Gaad will seriously tell you that feeling bad for poor people is "suicidal empathy" but that you should feel empathy for him, a rich, insane twitter addict whining about how he can't abandon his country for free.

We had one guy quit because the boss was forcing him to teach what took him years of university and hardship to learn (he paid for school). He left and came back. When he came back he made a folder of "what to do" but never gave explanations of "how to do". This was the smart way.

My boss fired me on Slack. Then asked me to train my replacement over Zoom. Message came at 4:58pm on a Friday. “Hey, we’re going in a different direction. Last day today.” I was remote. In Michigan. Had 2 minutes to say goodbye to a team I’d led for 3 years. Monday 9:02am: Calendar invite popped up. Title: “Knowledge Transfer – New Hire Onboarding” Attendees: Me. HR. My replacement. The replacement’s name? Mine. But with “Jr” at the end. Same first name. Same last name. His dad worked with our CEO in 2008. Zoom started. Camera off. HR: “Can you walk him through the dashboard?”

For the first time ever in Regina’s downtown, the Muslim call to prayer was broadcasted over outdoor loudspeakers from the new Jamia Masjid mosque on 1900 block McIntyre. The broadcast test occurred at 1pm and lasted for just over three minutes.

The answer depends on how much indoctrination one has installed in their thinking. In my opinion ALL of it is theft past the very minimal basics to make the framework for a society. Framework. The bureaucrats are the real issue. They entrench themselves to become rulers, and justify theft. I read somewhere in Europe (Germany?) that after death about 95% of the inheritance is taken in taxes! I think capitalist would say 5% max. socialist would say 99%. Not ironically, the capitalists are the ones that make the $ and the socialists are the ones that would take the $.

One more thought about parasitic taxation and I'll head off for some exercising. What should be the maximal ceiling of your yearly income that the governments should be able to take? Is it 50%? 60%? 70%? 80%? 95%? What is the philosophical, moral, and ethical precept that guides your response? For example, if you were to say that a government must create equal wealth distribution across all citizens then the government could conceivably take 99.99% of a a very wealthy person's income to achieve that objective. So in your view, how much of your earnings does a government have a right to in a free society? I'm being genuine here. You don't need to insult me, attack me, etc. I'm interested in your responses.

@RichardDias_CFA The bail out is to hide the fact that BC is BROKE. It is the facade to keep people believing that all is well in a perfect world. Empty boarded up condos would be like a huge red flashing light for even the most indoctrinated.

So, I've slept on it, and I am still incensed about this condo bailout. Mining and Oil & Gas companies have to beg, BEG, to sell our natural resources, which pay Canadians billions in taxes and royalties. And then the Feds give that money to condo developers who "don't want to sell at a loss". Are you effing kidding me? Anyway, let the BOC know I've solved the mystery of Canada's weak productivity!

@MatrixMysteries Yup, the "miracle of compounding" Now, just pay an extra $952 toward the principle and you just saved a YEAR of payments. The early years pay the most back in saved interest!!!

An American buys a $138,000 home. She sends the bank $9,286. After interest, taxes, and insurance, ONLY $952 goes toward the loan. $8,300 is PURE interest. This is how the system turns ownership into a lifetime of payments.

In a sane world, governments exist to improve the lives of people (at a minimum). The worst incidents of my life all stem from the provincial and federal governments repeatedly punishing me financially for being successful in ways that make you feel trapped in a Kafkaesque prison of despair. I realize that many Canadians benefit from the system, and hence will exhibit zero empathy but in a just world, this reality should not be tolerated. It can't be that a government owns 65%+ of all of your worth once all taxes are added up. Send me good vibes. Going through a very difficult time.

Just a heads up, banning kids from access (which they will work around as proven by the Australia model of which you predicated most of this legislation off of—even though it failed) does not stop this activity from occurring at all. What would help in these extreme and shameful occurrences is if you upheld the criminal justice system and made the perpetrators responsible for their actions. TLDR: instead of punishing the perpetrators, you punished the victims.

From deepfake sexual images and cyberbullying to addictive scrolling, our kids are especially vulnerable to  online harm. That is why, last week, we tabled the Safe Social Media Act to make the online world safer for children. As a country, we cannot let this generation down.

@paul_k_0907 TFSA is not tax free growth. It is deferred tax after growth mired in rules that keep you working for more and more to get it later and later. In fact all retirement accounts are designed to make you think you are getting way ahead while most live large and in debt.
